But, it's not ridiculous to have lost perhaps 4-5 games in the past 2 years due entirely to blocked punts (many run back for TD's), or at least lost any sort of momemtum?

Indeed, very frustrating. I was at the UNT game last year when one of them happened. And he is accountable for that. Give me a punter and a defense, and I'll go win a championship is what I believe what football comes down to.

But it would appear that gnashing your teeth over that comment regardless of how long ago that was made is really getting us nowhere.

I would hope a football coach would forget more than we ever know since he's been involved in every small detail pertaining to the game for X-number of years.

That's his profession. We are passionate followers of the game, but unless we've coached, I would think our knowledge is far short of theirs.

What is ridiculous is your taking this debate literally, as if anybody on this board actually thinks they know more about coaching football than Bennett. That said, however, you also seem to be missing the irony of his statement-judging by his record as SMU head coach, indeed he has forgotten a lot about football.

No, I got the irony and how people want to take that comment and use it. But my point is that the use of this has kind of run its course. It's not that funny anymore.

Now, we can talk about Bennett running his course here after Thanksgiving. I think you can agree that the mess Cavan left him was greater than any of us realized and that's why his record was so off-the-chart bad in the first several seasons.

This is the year of decision for Phil. We go to a bowl, he stays. We don't, he goes. I have no problem with. He will have had enough time for his philosophy to take hold or not.

don't remember seeing you on the board when we first heard Phil say that.

Not to say that it's not getting petty, though..

Well, after reading the board for some time, I thought I would start contributing. About a month old. There is a lot good information like the Serge and the east Texas kid, and healthy debates. And this there's this ridiculous argument.

I'm just thrilled we're getting a Special Teams Coordinator.. Does Vickie Hill have a degree for that as well? :D
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

We have a sensational punter in Thomas Morstead, and the back seven, at least, looks good on defense. If Elizee is allowed to play and help shore up the front line, the defense might be pretty good, too.
