Suspended indefinitely. At least Mack's not putting up with this [deleted] and trying to hide it like Miami usually does.

I'd still rather recruit the players it takes to win football games than the players it takes to lead the nation in football graduation rate.

Joseph is second Longhorns player arrested this month

Associated Press

AUSTIN -- Texas safety Robert Joseph was jailed Saturday on two misdemeanor charges of burglary of a vehicle and has been suspended indefinitely by the Longhorns.

Joseph, 19, was booked around 4:30 a.m. and remained in Travis County Jail late Saturday on $6,000 bond. He was arrested after running from a security guard who found Joseph sitting in a car that didn't belong to him at a downtown hotel, according to his arrest affidavit.

"We are aware of the recent situation with Robert Joseph," Texas head coach Mack Brown said in a statement. "We've talked with Robert and his family and have decided to suspend him indefinitely, pending the completion of the legal process. At this time, he will not be involved in any team functions."

Joseph is the second Texas player arrested this month. On June 1, junior defensive end Henry Melton was arrested and charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated.

According to the arrest affidavit, Joseph was spotted in a car by an off-duty Austin police officer working security at a hotel parking garage. Joseph told the officer the car belonged to a friend, but then fled as the officer tried to verify the owner's identity.

A short time later, Joseph was arrested after the officer found him sitting in another car, the affidavit states.

"Hopefully, we'll find that the reason behind this didn't involve criminal behavior," Jamie Balagia, Joseph's attorney, told the Austin American-Statesman.

Joseph, a sophomore, played in seven games last season but missed the last six with a shoulder injury. He had 14 tackles as a backup safety and special teams player.

Longhorn Safety Joseph Arrested

Saturday, 09 Jun 2007

Robert Joseph, a safety for the Longhorn football team, was arrested early Saturday morning for burglary of a vehicle. Joseph, a sophomore reserve, was arrested shortly after 3:00 a.m. in the Omni Hotel parking garage and taken to Travis County Jail.

According to his arrest affidavit, an off-duty Austin Police Department officer was working a security detail at the Omni Hotel downtown when he got a report of somebody banging on cars in the parking garage.

After investigating, the officer found Joseph sitting in a car that did not belong to him. Joseph told the officer the car belonged to a friend. While the officer was trying to verify who the actual owner of the car was, Joseph ran away.

The officer heard the sound of a car alarm and found Joseph sitting in another vehicle. Joseph then told the officer he was breaking into cars to get away from somebody who attacked him at a club on 6th Street.

He was arrested and charged with two counts of burglary of a vehicle.

Mack Brown released the following statement about Joseph late Saturday evening:

"We are aware of the recent situation with Robert Joseph. We've talked with Robert and his family and have decided to suspend him indefinitely, pending the completion of the legal process. At this time, he will not be involved in any team functions."

Joseph played in seven games in 2006 before a shoulder injury sidelined him for the final six games of the season. He recorded 14 tackles for the year. He is the second Longhorn to be arrested in less than a month. Backup defensive end Henry Melton was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Again, I'm not seeing SMU anywhere on your list of winners there, pal. Good grief, do any of you people even want to win football games???

Yeah, well, TCU has Criminal Justice, Kinesiology, P.E., etc...with over 30% of their FB students in Speech Communications (whereas, only 4% of the TCU student body takes SpeechComm).

SMU has 16% of their FB players in its Top25 Business school (the largest concentration of any FB major) and graduated 100% overall without any PE degrees.

Of course, TCU went 11-2 last year.
