I didn't see a post for this. Apparently we are now back to Royal Blue rather than navy.

From what I have been told, uniforms won't change until next year, which will coincide with the likely sponsor change.

Sponsor change? As in we will be going with some company other than Nike? Or, we will no longer be sponsored and not covered by the DMN? I think you are intimating the former.

We get our uniforms, for Olympic sports [specifically baseball], from a Fort Worth-based company. In fact, our baseball team has 12+ different pairs of uniforms, the 2nd most in the NCAA. Most teams have two or three but this local company is giving us all the uniforms for free... pretty neat.
It's possible we may switch, in football, from Nike to this local company... though it would be a long transition.

The Nike contract is up at the end of 2007-08 school year. That does not necessarily mean Nike is out, but SMU is going to go with the best offer. From what I have been told, that likely won't be Nike. With a new company, we won't be wearing the current Nike football gear, so a new uniform is the likely bi-product. It doesn't make sense to get new uniforms this year and have to change them again next year. As a result, no changes this year.

Players said that 'likely' the new contract would be with Adidas. Not because of the strength of the soccer program and wanting to represent it. Also said that it would be great for the athletes because Adidas is not nearly as recognizable a name as Nike in the CF world and they would recieve a lot more athletic apparel goodies with Adidas all over it.

I would assume that each sport has different contracts.
I was told by a coach in another sport that royal blue is the school color (mktg, etc) now, maybe fb is last on the list.
