really the mid tier bowls often end up with the most economically unrational contests like Georgia Tech in the Silicon Valley Bowl for example. I forgot to add that SMU and other universities also would be denied the right to choose the bowl which made the best economic sense for it as well. Certainly, SMU in that scenario would likely prefer to play in just about any of the Southern bowls over the Silicon Valley or Humanitarian Bowls so that once again the free market for universities to make an economically desireable decision would have been disturbed-not just from the bowl's perspective.
