Bears - now a must win?

Postby gostangs » Sun Sep 07, 2003 12:33 am

This game is now a must win for both teams -

for them - if they lose they are 0-3 going into Big 12 play - and would have lost to UNT and SMU - not where they want to be.

For us - if we lose we are 45 something points WORSE then NTSU - and 0-2 going into OSU - not where we want to be.

Big stakes for two teams desperately trying to show better results and build some momentum in their program.

Woe is Waco! A loss to SMU might end their program. After all they have hired a very good SEC coach, and if he can't get results the Bears might conclude it is not worth it. I am not saying that our ponies will take this one, but B.U. has much more at stake than we do - BCS status in the Big 12. If this game were not ont he road, I might even predict an SMU win.

Baylor's BCS status does not hang in the balance. Baylor has stated a strong desire to remain in the Big XII, and the league has indicated that there is no thought being given to removing Baylor as a member.

With that said, I do believe this is now a must win for the Ponies.

You could say that Baylor is the worst team in Div I football. Just pray that we don't lose to them and take their place.

Should be interesting to see whether Baylor will be favored over SMU after last night's debacle. With Baylor at home, I still expect them to be about a 3 pt favorite. Both teams have a lot to be upset about. Should be a very competitive game.

Not so fast, my friend! There's too much money coming in throught Baylor High's Big 12 alliance, and the higher-ups in Waco know full well that Coach Morriss inherited a complete trainwreck of a program. They're not going to give up on him after this season, let alone after this game. Sure, they expect him to turn the thing around, but they're not going to turn their backs on Coach Morriss even if (I mean when) they lose to the Ponies Saturday.

Show your pride - I'm picking the Ponies!
