This is true. He indicated, I think before spring training, that he was going to transfer and then nothing further happened to my knowledge. I just do not see any advantage to him going to a Div1 school. Drop down and play would be my advice.

Maybe he has seen the benefit of dropping down a division like Josh McCown did. Hard to see him becoming an NFL QB had he stayed at SMU.......

I do not see where he has seen that benefit if he is targeting Hawaii, Bosie and Colorado.

Losing or keeping Corey Slater will not make the difference in winning or losing one game.

I'd bet that 30-35% + of the teams in Division 1A get their starting QB hurt for substantial numbers of games each year(let's say 3 games). Think about it- off the top of my head Baylor, UT, TCU, Memphis, Rice, even SMU for 2 games had QBs unavailiable for substantial, critical portions of the season. It could be potentially disasterous not to have a backup. But I never have been a big fan of Slater anyway-but contingencies-none of which look real good right now have to be made. Tidbit to remember:Rice went bowling last year over SMU because they had a backup good enough to win a couple of crucial games down the streatch.

I agree that having a good backup is important, but my point was that I don't think Slater was that good of a good backup. The next guy in line behind Slater won't be a big step down from him.

I was never as down on Slater as a lot of folks (my wife included), but I think Rhodes may prove better in the backup role. Slater was always more of a pocket passer who needed to build a rapport and a rhythm with the receivers to be effective.

Rhodes looks like more of an improviser out there who can make things happen with his legs when the plays don't develop for him in time. When it comes to coming in off the bench and stealing a game, I think Rhodes will serve.

Hell, if nothing else, toss him in there and run some option plays, that kid can run flat out.

I though Rhodes ruined his shoulder and is a WR now...

Logan Turner, go back and watch Colts vs. Pats and listen to Peyton to Jim Sorgi: "be ready..."

If that's the case, I'll have preserved my record for never knowing what the hell is going on out here lol. Looks like if Willis goes down, we're an option team.

Well, it's not good losing a QB who has some, albeit limited Division I experience.

Quick question: who was the backup for Jared Romo in 2005? Remember Tony Eckert broke his collar bone.
