You take "literary license" too far...no Petty Officer is referred to as a "Sergeant"...the correct nomenclature is "Chief Petty Officer."

DON'T SAY THAT! Are you trying to jinx us???!!!
One play. That's all it takes. We are one play away from a freshman QB.
Just stop. Don't say another word.
Let's stop this thread now before we get really hosed.

Or you can just call me the voice of reason.

I am the voice of reason. You are the voice of eternal optimism. That's ok, we need people like you so that when it doesn't work out, people like me can say, "Hey, I told you so."

Hey, look our phriend is cheering for phailure because he doesn't want it to work out! A bowl season would absolutely ruin his holiday season because he'd rather have his wish of getting a new coach than success.

Be careful what you wish for. You may just get it.

not for nothing, but a CPO would be a considerable promotion from Sergeant.

You're right Cadillac...Petty Officer and Sergeant are equal rank and CPO is the equal rank of Master Sergeant.

While we're wishing.

This is mine.
SMU has a winning record and clinches a bowl berth.
And then sometime in December as we're preparing for the bowl or maybe early January, Steve Orsini announces that Phil Bennett has signed a 3-year extension that will take him to 2012.

You'd love that wouldn't you because then you get to keep your life-sized poster of Phil on the back of your bedroom door.

And all the while, you'll be cheering for phailure because success is nothing you want affiliated with this program.

I would think Patton would be limited to posting on the "General" board.

PK,
None taken. I just have major issues when someone makes it his mission to spread venom and hate on a board to the extent he does. PhriendofPhil needs to be confronted at every turn until he understands that his message of misery is not well received. Right or wrong, I will do that.

I have no problem with people criticizing Bennett. I think I've made it pretty clear that I have had my problems with him as well. See the QB situation in 2005 -- by the way, don't we think he would have messed that up if Eckert had not broken his collar bone? He had no choice but to play Romo -- but it is an outrage when PhriendofPhil spews a handle of hate and spreads the message of hate.

It will not be tolerated.
