I am truly going to miss Dan Patrick on the tube with ESPN..hopefully, they will find a suitable replacement. I hear Mike Tirico could be named....speaking of ESPN, I am so freakin' tired of "Boomer" Berman, what a tool, and his routine is so tiresome..I also put Stuart Scott in the same cat with Boomer, I really can't stand either one of those stooges. Give me more Kenny Mayne...Long Live Dandy Don.

Anybody remember Patrick's performance at the Doak awards a couple years ago? His joke about the size of John Daly's c@#k really went over well with that crowd.

I'm in the distinct minority of folks who still likes Berman, although I admit it's more of a nostalgic memory from back when he was funny. If he could can the "back back back" routine, the home run derby would be an hour shorter, and he just tries way too [deleted] his rock-n-roll references and the pop culture nicknames. However, he will continue to do a few hand-picked events each year and will be there until the day the close his casket, because he was bright enough to take stock when ESPN was started in lieu of some increased salary. Therefore, he is hideously wealthy and is a part owner of the network (lots of folks have Disney stock, and Disney now owns the network, but he has an outrageous amount of stock, so he calls his own shots).

Screamin' A Smith and the faux-hip Stuart Scott are simply painful to watch. How those clowns got jobs, much less keep them, will remain one of life's great mysteries.

I agree that Patrick and Olberman were the best. Another who I miss — although he took a while to grow on me — is Craig Kilborn. At first, he was a smug jerk, until his humor came through. He was great — no idea what he's doing now.

As for Kenny Mayne, I'm right there with jkflamebo. He's hysterical. However, he took a page from the Berman Career Guide. When he was an emerging talent/personality on ESPN, they approached him about more SportsCenter duty, etc., and offered him a fat contract to be one of the "faces of the network" (or some equally flattering term). True to his amazingly goofy nature, he turned down the lucrative deal, negotiating a much lower salary so he could work far fewer events. (He still makes good money, I'm sure, and has endorsement deals to further supplement the income, so there's no reason to send him donations.) Therefore, he shows up a few times a year during football season, in McCovey's Cove at the Home Run Derby, and at other goofy, off-beat events, and seemingly does whatever he wants.

Great — now I just identified another person who has a job I'd like.

When was the last time Patrick was on TV? He moved to the primetime slot, but then I never saw him there anymore. I heard him more than watched him of late.

I just started considered ESPN an extension of the New York Yankees YES network since most of those anchors get all hot and bothered when they speak of the Yankees.

I don't mind the Yankees -- who have a losing record as of 7/11 -- what I do mind is when objectivity is thrown out the window.

He was pretty much just doing NBA stuff on ABC this year.

the worst part about DP leavin is finding the best guy to take up his radio show spot...one of the best times to have a radio program...
