Cole Beasley. 5'9 155lb athlete out of Little Elm, Texas. Had an offer from Air Force as well.

Bennett is cornering the market on 5'9 sub 160 pounders today!

If we squeeze them tightly together we can get a 6' 1" 315 DL out of them.

Good point! Or maybe this kid projects as a punter/kicker. Maybe he is an excellent kickholder? I just hope we don't start stockpiling guys who have to jump to give JWill a high five.

This is the kind of kid you'd expect to catch on late (like Morgan Hudnall), not the kind I thought we'd get a verbal from so early (Josh LeRibeus). I don't want to bash the kid without knowing much about him, but based on his measurables and other offers, this shows me that recruiting is not going well so far IMO

You know nothing about recruiting. All the great ones target vastly undersized players (in weight and stature), with limited options, in the early recruiting period.

Interesting tidbits I found.

He played QB and FS at Little Elm, passed for 1386 yards, rushed for 1173 yards (7.72 YPC), threw for 14 TDs, had 6 INTs, and had 9 rushing TDs. He was co-offensive MVP for District 9-4A this year per the DMN. We'll have to see how this year pans out for him.

By the way, Maxpreps also has him at 171 lb instead of 155 lb that Rivals has.

A 5'9" safety/QB??? This guy better run a 4.2 or Bennett is really stretching to find that Diamond in the rough.

Would it be too mean-spirited to ask the author of this thread to change its title to, "Verbal Commit # 1 1/2?"

So he's 17 years old. Between the end of my junior year and the beginning of my freshman year at SMU, I grew three inches or so, and probably added 20 pounds. Didn't work out, didn't lift a thing -- just grew, because that's what guys that age do. So let's say this kid grows another inch or two, and adds another 20 pounds. CB? Slot WR? Return guy? If this kid has been offered this early, I'm guessing there's considerable talent in this guy.

Lot of people thought Justin Rogers was a skinny throw-away scholarship, too. Think there's a PonyFan ANYWHERE who wouldn't take another Justin Rogers?

Welcome aboard, Cole!

Well said. Obviously this guy has a set of wheels since he ran over a 1000 yards for multiple years in a row in high school. I would expect him to do the same this year as well.

Wow, you guys are a bunch of critics.

I hope we don't have any other "undersized" people reading this forum...I'm sure they will go elsewhere rather than watch a bunch of people, who have nothing better to do than trash SMU commits on the internet, make fun of them.

These two new commitments (at 5'9") have more size than you clowns have class.

Welcome to SMU you guys and don't pay attention to these badasses behind their keyboards.
