Nice KGB story on "The Magnificent Seven"

...so they're called in the DMN write-up.

Interesting that the story says Doh won't use the team's youth as an excuse.
I kept looking to read that SMU will be the youngest team in CUSA, or in the NCAA.

I absolutely love this quote from the article:

"Coach Doherty is, how do you say, a big deal," said Kwiatkowski, a late find who played one season at Lee Academy in Maine to adjust to the U.S.

That's a great quote. There's a really good quote just like that in a movie. Ron Burgundy maybe?

Here's another interesting part from the article:

"While the class created some respectable buzz in the recruiting world, none of the recruits cracked Rivals.com's Top 150. But at least one guru, Clark Francis, editor and publisher of HoopScoopOnline.com, ranked the class 24th nationally."

"It's a numbers game for them," Francis said. "Dia is the marquee guy – the guy they shouldn't have gotten."

In addition to the upbeat/informative article, the photo was indicative of the "hands on" approach of Coach Doherty. With all of them wearing their Peruna shirts, they look like a TEAM. This is the sort of article that generates water cooler talk, interest, ticket sales, and fans.

I like the team photo but Dia said it best at the end that they haven't done anything yet.

What's also great is that all 7 got on campus in June. Great stuff. November can't get here fast enough.

Poor, bitter dude. It's gonna be a long season for you. But you make me laugh anyway, so I approve.

You better get a sense of humor sunshine boy, or else you're going to be in for a bunch of crying come football season. Don't get me wrong though, even though you have no sense of humor, you still make me laugh. In your case though, I'm not laughing with you.....

We have to get through most of another football season before those thoughts can come into play.

Sure, but just think when workouts start in mid-October and they start getting the season cranked up. I just hope that by mid-October we're not eager for hoops to start.
