I would be happy if he would compare to the Alridge kid at Houston that made us look like we were standing still last year.

I saw more speed that day than Courtney Love's house.

That was funny. If I were to start grading the sense of humor displayed on some of these posts you'd get an A for that one.

well, thats one way to spin it. Personally, I like the undersized/no other real offers version. Truth hurts people
I had a friend of mine that was 5-9 when he graduated from high school. When he got out of the Navy 4 years later he was 6-4. Just because he is undersized right now doesn't necessarily mean that he will remain undersized. Of course, the odds are against his showing this type of growth, but at least he is definitely an athlete, which you can plainly see by reviewing the Rivals tape.
The odds of going from 5'9" to 6'4" are pretty slim I'd say. All I've been trying to say is that this early in recruiting, we should be getting more guys close to blue-chip status than sleeper status. Guys that have the measurables. There will be plenty of undersized sleepers to "pounce" on when the well runs dry right before signing day
Right now we need to get some recruiting momentum going. Have you bothered to look at the Rival's videos on these guys or are you just shooting off your mouth to increase your number of posts on this board? Believe it or not, some kids do grow the last year in high school and in college. You do realize that David Robinson was 6-6 when he joined the Navy. When he left the Navy he was 7-1 so don't tell me it can't happen. Have you met these kids parents? Do you know anything about their geneology. I doubt it. And even if they don't grow, you also realize that Darrell Green was one of the greatest cornerbacks in the NFL and he was the SAME size (5-9) as both of our first recruits. SMU Lance McElhenny was only an inch or two taller and he turned out to be one of SMU's all time great players! Your being pretty judgemental about these recruits with NO knowledge about them at all.
Ponymon, I would've given you a nice, long response, but MustangIcon made a response 10x better than I could have. I'm sorry I upset you, but I guess you can live in your fantasy-land thinking we have great momentum, and these 5'9" players will magically grow to 6'5", and that somehow this great momentum we have going will land us 10 Texas top 100 players. Great example btw, ONE player that played college football 25 years ago. If you have to dig that much back, what does that say?
And if you ever read my posts, you'll notice I don't post too much, but when I do I like to post something atleast halfway informative.
Maybe some day you'll realize why we've gotten our [deleted] kicked for 25 straight years now, but until that day, keep your pom poms waiving!
Cant wait for this great momentum you speak of to yield some results!

I applaud your lack of posts. Please KEEP it upbecause you and your ILK have LITTLE to offer anyway except negativism and DEFEATISM! I hate losing like anyone else here and think that Bennett is living on borrowed time. I have had to put up with this crap for 32 of the last 36 years, NOT the minimal 25 years that you have had to put up with losing SMU teams. However, I prefer not to live in the past and will support any new recruit that decides that SMU is the place for him. The tapes of this kid look great and he DESERVES a chance NOW that we have extended an offer to him and he has excepted. (BTW Texas Football thought highly enough of him that he is one of the few recruits with his PICTURE in the magazine.) When someone such as yourself opens his BIG MOUTH and makes assinine comments about his size as if you are some kind of GENIUS, I believe it deserves a response. Like I said, I applaud your lack of posts. Please keep your production limited to one a year at most!

I'm sure you were just trying to make a point with your exaggeration mavsrage311, but it has only been 20 years since the DP and 18 since we fielded a team again unless you are implying that you weren't happy with the SMU teams the 5 years before the DP...then nevermind.
Yes, PK, but I think he means SOME DAY it will be 25 years. How sure can you really be that we are done getting our asses kicked already?

I think you need to re-read his post, "25 straight years now...", but let's see...going 6-6 while still below the level we would all like to be at does not equate in my book as getting our asses kicked. We were good enough to have gone 7-5 or 8-4 last year...and before you get overly excited here and get your panties in a wad, I am referring to the fact that we probably would have beat UTEP had Justin been the QB in that game and that both NTSU and Rice were more a reflection of coaching errors than of talent problems. Also, I don't see Orsini allowing it to go another 7 years either. Obviously my own personal sunshiny take on the situation, but then you asked.
