Columbus GivensNice to see a picture on the homepage today (7/16/07). Always liked the guy. I heard he is going to be eligible this fall, thanks to summer school making up the classes that got bumped in the spring when he got sick. Anyone know anything about his strength or weight or overall health?
Good luck, Columbus. We're ALL pulling for you to make a full recovery, and get back on the field with your teammates.
Re: Columbus Givens
I hope this is information is accurate. We need all the WR's we can get out there, and Givens could easily lead the team in receiving yardage this season. -CoS
I saw Columbus a few weeks ago and he appears to be doing well and should be ready for the season, and rooming with Willis should only help him considering teams will probably be keying on Sanders and Willis has shown the ability to spread the ball around.
I hadn't heard this. That's pretty cool. Figured Willis would be rooming with Sanders again. Seriously, that's good. We saw the kind of chemistry that Willis and Sanders have - as in Willis just has a preternatural knowledge of where Emmanuel is on the field at all times, if this can extend to Givens. Wow. Columbus will sail the endzone blue. (I know... I get the bad pun award for the day... but, I couldn't pass it up.) ![]() Eric Dickerson in Pony Excess "I've love winning man, it's like better than losing." - Ebby Calvin "Nuke" LaLoosh

Heh, I have a great picture of my Girls tumbling in the South End-Zone after the Tulsa game, but I can't upload it from work.

WOW! I'll go with: Justin Willis - 2,400 Passing Yards w/ 24 TDs and 11 INT Emmanuel Sanders - 620 Receiving Yards w/9 TDs Columbus Givens - 700 Receiving Yards w/6 TDs I am increasing Willis's yards and INT's based on the fact I think we will try and stretch the field a bit more this season than we did last and won't play with our tail between our legs vs Tech and UNT. Plus hopefully Willis won't miss any games this year. His TD's should be down though as we find ourselves an actual running game. Last season as a team we managed only 3 rushing TD's and under 1,100 yards from all the RB's on our team. We should have AT LEAST 10 TD's from our RB's this season if we expect to be succesfull.
BWAHahahahah..
Don't get me wrong.. I would love to see those stats, but let's not get too carried away. I still have flashbacks of dropped passes from Columbus. Let's hope Vic get's him up to speed quickly. I'm sure his head's been spinning coming off his illness and the added pressure of getting eligible in the offseason. Would love to see Givens emerge as a solid #2.. I'm also curious if Burley's little bro is coming along. He's making a big leap from 2A? and a R/S year to hopefully getting some time this year. Would be nice to see some jump balls in the endzone to him. What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.
I'll bite: Justin Willis - 2,600 Passing Yards w/ 29 TDs and 4 INTs (6 fumbles) - Assumes Willis is healthy Emmanuel Sanders - 1021 Receiving Yards w/9 TDs Columbus Givens - 700 Receiving Yards w/8 TDs - Assumes Givens is healthy Vincent Chase - 375 Receiving Yards w/5 TDs Zach Sledge - 475 Receiving Yards w/ 3 TDs (and might throw for one himself; afterall, he is a superhero) ![]() DeMyron Martin - 275 Receiving Yard w/ 2 TDs; 1200 rushing yards 8 TDs And somebody has a free TD somewhere else If Burley steps up, or a freshman/sophomore steps in for injured starter, then it divies up a little differently, but I think Willis blows the socks off this thing if he stays healthy and if DMart really shows up. DMart won't get many long TDs, but he will be very effective in setting up the pass. At least that's my hope. The O-line really has to show up here for this to happen. Okay, I'll play:
Willis: 2560 passing yards; 36 TDs; 8 INTs Sanders: 990 receiving yards; 19 TDs Givens: 1150 receiving yards; 9 TDs Martin: 1280 yards rushing; 15 Rushing TDs; 280 receiving yards; 5 TDs Jump in, the sunshine's great! (Okay, my numbers on Willis are an extrapolation on this past season. Basically taking his numbers dividing by ten - since he missed the UTEP game and played half games in the first two - then multiplying by 12.... and then added in some padding for improvement. Sanders and Givens wild guesses. Martin wishful/hopeful thinking.) ![]() Eric Dickerson in Pony Excess "I've love winning man, it's like better than losing." - Ebby Calvin "Nuke" LaLoosh
Those are some pretty up there guesses. I'll hazard a guess one of these days.
