Haven't heard anything but about three weeks ago, there was mass hysteria because we didn't have any. The panic mongers were having a field day.

Now, that we are at three -- they'll really think two because that La Vernia kid is apparently still looking around -- they'll start screaming, oh my God, we only have two/three and there's nothing doom and despair in front of us.

Why? Why? Why?

It was a Junior Day, by the way, but I would expect some new commits soon since there were about 400 guys on campus this weekend. With a great campus, great facilities, and everything else SMU has to offer some would like what they saw. I say let's hope that PB and crew get themselves some elusive "blue-chip" recruits.

Be careful with that optimism. Some might actually confuse you for thinking that you like how things are progressing with this program.

In all candor, I'm right there with you. It would seem to me that Erik Roark is our best recruiter. Hopefully, he can pluck that one kid out of Oklahoma.

Its true and Bennett always says "if we can just get them on campus..." However, I must admit that is seems our camps are generally pretty well attended. Often with many of the top players in the state. Yet, I have not seen big results recruiting wise or on the field from it. Maybe year 6 is the lucky season though!!!

North Texas Senior Day

Postby Charlie NT73 » Mon Jul 23, 2007 10:47 am

The North Texas Junior/Senior Day event was on Saturday the 21st
also. Very good response with 300-400 kids and family members.
One tid bit of information, the entire 2007 signing class attended this
event also. The 2007 class "worked" out together.
Did Coach Bennett have any of the 2007 class attend the pony's
junior/senior day event?
Any new commitments from the event ?
North Texas was able to secure commitment # 10, from Hearne TX
WR, Forest Rucker, 6-5,200lbs,4.6 speed. Listed in DCTF top 20 at
TE. Also listed by DCTF as a "blue chip D1" recruit.

Hmmmm. Does the NCAA rules allow that?

Was it him or some of his other NTSU buddies that got that other thread from over the weekend deleted?

Postby Charlie NT73 » Mon Jul 23, 2007 2:12 pm

I did not have any threads deleted-
I was just asking a question about the ponys sr/jr day.

I'm afraid that you like everyone else has to put up with a little crap from time to time due to quasi guilt by association. Don't let it ruin your day. 8)

Hey- I am OK

Postby Charlie NT73 » Mon Jul 23, 2007 2:55 pm

I do not let alittle creative talk bother me-
I like talking about college football.
If I had my way, I would have SMU on the schedule every year.
Same for TCU. The best of the football world wish list would be
to bring back the old SWC, whoa--better not start with this
or a whole new thread will develop!

Um, wouldn't that leave NTCC in the Sunbelt? OK, I'm all for that.
