Ford Stadium Concessions

Speaking of concessions, why don't we have people
in the stands hawking water and iced cold sodas in addition
to standing in the lines underneath the stands.

I may be wrong, but I thought at one time we did...or maybe that was pizza being hawked.

Give the guy a break......you could say that
about alot of topics on here.

Yeah maybe he should call the athletic office
but I enjoy seeing various items discussed
on here as well. If you don't....don't read them!

Who knows....maybe with things like this being openly
discussed someone may come up with an innovative idea.

OK, now that I have admitted to being crabby...has anyone gone beyond reading and discussing the lead post and done anything about it.? I didn't think so. Am I going to have to call the AD and get this ball rolling? LakeHighlandsPony?

I recall there were folks in the aisles at the Ford Stadium inaugural game selling those Lemon Freeze things...I must have bought about 50 of 'em trying to stay cool! Still the hottest football game I've ever attended.

I don't recall seeing anyone in the aisles selling sodas or hot dogs for the past two years, at least.

Now here's an idea: get the sororities and fraternities and service organizations lined up to sell sodas, hot dogs, popcorn, peanuts, etc. in the stands on gameday. They sign a contract with the concession service that already has Ford Stadium (is it Aramark?) (same thing can be done in the spring at Moody when basketball starts, too).

It'll be a money maker for the Greeks and service organizations (let 'em keep 10% of the proceeds). It'll drive them to make money by keeping everyone served. And...It'll get more students in Ford Stadium on gamedays!!!!!

The Chi Omegas already sell souvenir programs inside Ford on gameday. Let's see if it can be extended to concessions (sodas, popcorn, peanuts, hot dogs, etc.)

My fraternity did this at the Huntsville Prison Rodeo in Huntsville (when it was still functioning) and we made enough money during the run of the rodeo to pay our house rent & utilities for the school year and then we put enough away to pay for our Spring Formal. It was a win-win situation for us.

BTW - Just saw that movie (An Inconvenient Truth), finally, last night - I would encourage any and all of you to watch the picture, regardless of political bent. It is truly frightening.

The most frightening thing about, to me, however, was how I had been duped into feeling like were making strides, and reversing global warming. But I now realize, I was amalgamating the fact that we closed to the hole int he ozone with disinformation on the current status of global warming.

Anyhow, sure, I know plenty of you might want to discredit it because of whatever feelings you have about Al Gore... but it's a pretty powerful piece. It should be required viewing for all humans.

I was hoping some of Orsini's staff patrol this board and one ambitious staffer would bring up the idea at a meeting and get an attaboy for thinking. Seriously-we could have dangers of heat strokes like the Kansas game. Its a shame we have to have someone die before we pull our head of our arse. How about Gardner Group or Sewell etc..sponsors free bottles of water with thier logo on the bottle for the game!! A 3 pm kickoff on Sept. 3 is asking for heat illness.

LakeHighlandsPony, I don't mean to demean what you are trying to accomplish here because you have a valid concern, but that statement is a little over the top. Call me crabby if you want, but seriously isn't calling the Athletic Department more direct and efficient than hoping some one from the athletic department might pick up on your post here? If you won't, I will call tomorrow and suggest that if they haven't already thought of it, supplying plenty of water at the Tech game be put on their radar screen.
