No kidding. The least he could have done is quote me in context:

No question they are more successful than us of late, but their fans hate that they are stuck in the ShunnedBelt (yes I came up with that by myself and will shortly run it into the ground) and many of them blame SMU for "blackballing" NTSU from Conf-USA and WAC and SWC even before that. I think it's funny that they are tacitly admitting they cannot better their conference affiliations on their own. I think the idea that SMU is holding them down is pathetic, but many of them do. And to date, no NTSU fan has ever answered my question as to why they need SMU's help rather than making it on their own.

But back to your original point. Indeed it is BECAUSE they beat us last year and stand a good chance to do the same this year that I am forced to resort to using this to bash back at them.

In fact, he has never denied that he thinks NTSU does not have the merits to get invited to a better conference on its own. What a "fan".

We're dealing with a person here who thinks his handle is amusing because it is a character on the ticket radio station.

And the ticket is the radio home for ALL SMU FOOTBALL GAMES. So in a way he is actually promoting our radio home. Appreciate that.

Be sure and catch Rich Phillips on the play-by-play and Craig Swann as the analyst.

Nice when you can get things straightened out like that because, oh yeah, it's kept on record.

what ever-

Postby Charlie NT73 » Tue Jul 24, 2007 1:30 pm

the $mu fans are still fun to talk to!
I do sense from your postings a real attack mode-
regarding anything related to North Texas or the Sun Belt Conference.
That is ok- makes me smile knowing that the $mu fans are truely
worried about this football season, and worried that North Texas is the new Metroplex Team!
Well what do you know, Coach Dodge has gained another Top Texas
football recruit. So many now that I have lost count. Let's see, Oh-I remember now, the count is 10. What is that I hear around Denton?
That more Top Texas players are commiting to North Texas!
How about that! Dodge Ball will be rolling faster than you think!

The problem with playing NTCC is that if you lose, you're stuck with Screaming Greenies on your BBS for the next year, and if you win... so what?

Not at all, I don't begrudge NTSU its recent successes. Wish we had some to compare. That said, I do think the so-called "fans" who continue to wail that the only reason NTSU is stuck in the ShunnedBelt is that SMU blackballed them ought to have their heads examined. I'm glad to see you do not count yourself among their numbers.

Speaking of which, are you going to be okay with it if NTSU must stay in the ShunnBelt for the foreseeable future?

I'm sorry, but according to the link UNT only has 8 commits and only one of those is ranked. And UNT only got him because daddy is the coach.

They have 10.

We have 3.

7 of their now 10 commits are rivals ranked HIGHER than all three of ours. The other 3 are even with our 3.

I think UNT is winning so far...

The resolution to rate recruiting classes in July instead of February — or perhaps when they get on the actual playing field — is really going to bite us now.

Am I ok with North Texas in the Sun Belt?

Postby Charlie NT73 » Tue Jul 24, 2007 4:25 pm

IMHO, yes I am. for now anyways. It is ironic, that if you check all the
message boards for all the SBC schools, all have the same idea-"to get
to another and better conference". The SBC has been around for what-
27 years. Football started just 6 years ago, so there is more to work on
and accomplish. The SBC football teams are stronger, because recruiting
is much better. The commissioner of the SBC, Wright Walters is about to
complete a 2nd bowl tie-in. Walters also stated "no more teams, keep the
football playing schools at 9 members" which is a good move.
What I fear, is the "Power 6 Conferences" + Norte Dame, dictating to
ALL schools how/which schools belong to a conference, the bowls and
bowl $$$ (from the kiss [deleted] tv networks). I believe there will be changes,
re-alinements, and raiding to steal schools just to survive. This could
help or it could hurt many schools. For now, the SBC is good for North
Texas. The key is to win, beat the OOC teams, win the championship, and
go to a bowl. Schools that win consistantly, are reconized more by their
"winning teams" than how many degree programs are alvailable.

Surely you'll acknowledge there is a large contingent of NTSU fans who disagree with you and lament being in the ShunnedBelt, and who also blame SMU for their conference lot in life. Just ask around, they'll tell you.

You are right-

Postby Charlie NT73 » Tue Jul 24, 2007 5:05 pm

There are many NT fans that blame $MU for not getting into another
conference. I do not want to get into a rock throwing contest about
that story. It is old history-why dig up the dead. I am sure all the pony
fans become tired of hearing about the cheating scandal/death penality
that will follow $mu for ever.
The way I see all college athletics, the whole big picture changes every
year, and the only sure thing is more changes will come in the future.
Who would have ever thought the SWC would break up? Man, I grew up
on the SWC, Cotton Bowl, Darrell Royal, Hayden Fry, Grant Tafft, heck-
I sold programs at the Cotton Bowl when I was kid. Good times gone forever! I say, forget the past, and work toward the future. As a college
football fan, I want to continue the NT-SMU series, throw in TCU as well.
Good for all 3 schools, good for the mertoplex, and good for the fans!
