Sat in front of a young man who works for the SMU Athletic Facilities & Operations Dept. tonight at the Rangers v Kansas City game (Rangers won, 4-3!). Told me that scaffolding is in place and that a new PA/audio system is being installed at Ford Stadium on both sides of the Jumbotron at the south end of the field. He says they've already tested it once and that the Highland Park/University Park Police Departments got phone calls from residents complaining about the noise level. He says it's gonna be a vast improvement to the current PA/audio system but that it's 'a test' for this season and, if successful, that AD Steve Orsini will consider installing it 'full-time' for next season and the years to come (read: budget item). The new PA/audio system will be ready for the first home game against Texas Tech on Monday, September 3rd.

Excellent. That is a big, big need.
Now maybe they can pipe in some Vivaldi to drown out the cow bells.

Not a bad idea
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

This is a dream come true. It would be nice if the students could hear what was on the PA.

yea the current pa system is terrible -- the bad pa system coupled with our usual low attendance makes for one quiet game...

I agree as long as it is better than the old one. Remember that someone thought the existing one was going to be good, so there is no telling what this one will be like until game day.

The replays on the jumbotron are lame too. Alot of great plays do not get shown on the replay.

Now that I can hear the play by play on the Pluckers Wing Race I will be able to sufficiently wager on the outcome.

I believe the young man who told me about the PA/audio system said it would be 85,000 watts. (I could be wrong about this, though)
Didn't get his name but he's a U.T. grad working in the SMU Athletics Facilities & Operations Dept. who played on the U.T. National Championship baseball team as a relief pitcher (actually got some PT) and has a nice ring to show for it, too.
So...it's true. If you graduate from U.T., you will end up working for SMU!
