An SLC (Southland Conference) team...and not necessarily a 'cupcake' team, either.

Gla to hear that they are going to be in Dayton. Great place to watch a game. Easy road trip from Cincinnati.

Just goes to show - when you call the staff, they do try to accommodate the fans. I bugged them for months saying Austin/San Antonio fans never get to see the team play. And no, never did I suggest UT,

No, there were not nearly 1,000 students at the games. No, there was not one game during the acadeimc semester, either of them, that had less than 100 students. Attendence wasn't anything to stand on a soap box about, but never when school was in session was it as atrocious as less than 100 students. Sorry, but that's just not true, and I was there for nearly every single game.

It's a pledge requirement for the Pi Kappa Alphas to attend school athletic events. They themselves made it to every home basketball game with a pledge class of just under 50 freshman. 100 is just not an accurate count.

Too bad they didn't extend that mandatory requirement to the chapter members and not just the pledges. Also, wouldn't it be great if ALL the Greeks had this mandatory requirement for pledges and members to attend home basketball and football games? :!:

You need not worry about Matt staying at SMU. It would take an unbelievably attractive situation to have him even consider a move. His family is very happy in the Dallas area and he is very encouraged by the support of the Administration, students, donors, alum, and fans. He believes he can build a competitive program and intends to do just that.

I would anticipate a wild ride this year with all the new faces, however this freshman class will enjoy a lot of success as upper classmen. The future for SMU basketball is definitely bright and a run at Memphis' stranglehold on the conference is likely in 3-4 years.

"Upstate will also participate in the Sun Bowl Tournament in El Paso, Texas, prior to Christmas and will play other non-conference away games at Wake Forest, Cincinnati, SMU, Iowa State, UNC Greensboro, and Duquesne. "

No disrespect to the above post but if Matt can get a gig at a BCS level school he is gone. Sorry, end of story. The family might be all warm and fuzzy in Dallas/U Park but if he can bolt he is gone. Hope he stays because he is an excellent coach and recruiter but lets be real here if the PAC 10, Big 12, Big 10, Big East, SEC, (ACC is out-will never coach in that league again) and even some Mo Valley Schools(Wichita State for example) come calling, he is gone...toast, poof, out on the first plane...press conference as soon as he accepts the job. Too many reasons for him not too. If you believe otherwise then you are soooooooooo naive. Nature of the business. The dude would run to the likes of a Vandy, Miss. St., Oregon, Oregon St., Missouri, Kansas State, South Florida, St. Johns, Seton Hall, Rutgers.

No doubt that if a major program offered Coach Doherty he could go, but the BCS does not play nearly the role in BB as it does in FB. Basketball has a playoff. There are plenty of good successful BB programs not affiliated with BCS schools.

Actually if he got an offer from ANY school that actually supported its basketball team with attendance, after a couple of years of playing to the crickets at Moody, he'd probably go for that reason alone.
