Plano East QB Riko Smalls

Postby George S. Patton » Thu Aug 16, 2007 4:07 pm

Since these chat rooms embrace rumor and speculation, I'll throw this into the mix.

Talked to a couple of people who said he claims we have offered him. Is it true? Who knows. I did a little research on him at the DMN

6-0, 185
5-1 as a starter last year -- that loss was to Spring Westfield in the playoffs.
Completed 71 percent of his passes.
Rushed for about 500 yards

I know I know about the Johnny Ringo leaving SMU thing. I don't even know if there were hard feelings, but I would hope that whatever feelings he he may have toward the school will be civil when it comes to recruiting.

If we have offered, I guess it would be at QB.

That's all I know. So here it is.

I have heard that we have, in fact, offered the guy.
No idea on position.

Johnny Ringo as the Johnny that used to coach at Westlake High? He was my counselor at Camp Longhorn 25 years ago. I forgot he was at SMU for a bit.

I remember Ringo from Longhorn as well. I assumed it was the same guy but never found out for sure.

I am about 6 houses from Johnny. I called him and told that he was being talked about. Butt in the stands and 94 pm me with your names he wants to see if he remembers you two.
Yes we have offered Rico. We are recruting him as a QB, and we are one of his top two teams. I think that so far he has 6 offers.

Glad this is accurate. Gasp, I wandered over to the rivals web site. It lists him as a 5.3 star recruit or whatever that is. Who cares.

After the bogus rating they put on Braden Smith, should they warrant any credibility? (Never had the guy rated, but when he commits, all of the sudden we have a rating in 24 hrs? Whatever.)

This person told me that Smalls can make all the throws and was pretty accurate and they said he was a good leader.

All I want to know about my QB is if he can play and if he can a be leader. If has those, then I'll take my chances.

Remind him that my mother from Lake Jackson Texas still says he is a gentleman for coming far out of his way to say hi to me when I was a kid

Can anyone offer any insight about his arm?
