.....at what point does SOMEBODY make a series of BUSINESS DECESIONS (ie: see,,logic) about the future of SMU remaining a D-I football program????? How much $$$ are we spending? What is our fan base? and will it improve?? Can WE afford to continue on this road?? Is EGO in our way...?? This IS a joke.....I know,,I know...it's been, what?..15+ years since the DP..4 coaches ago...3 conference later....HAS IT REMOTELY IMPROPVED??? Baylor is one of the WORST D-I programs......
Time to WAKE UP. folks.....

I don't think you can make that determination on the basis of losing two games. (3 including next week.) Bennett needs time as his recruits are just freshman. If he wins, the attendance will improve. If he doesn't it will stay small, just like every team that has a losing record.
However, it is frustrating especially given the fact that the expectations for our offense this year were much greater than the defense given the number of returning starters. Bartel, especially, has been disappointing. The offensive line has been weak, but from what I can tell, Bartel's accuracy has been way off the first 2 games. He needs to start making completions or one of the backup freshman needs to be given a chance, just like Lance was his freshman year!

He needs to be told to hit the bench because he had one of the worst games I have seen from a QB and he was playing against what is arguably the weakest defensive backfield in the country. I read earlier this week that Baylor came into this year with a total of four corners on their entire team and one was a walk-on Freshman.

I'd like to know where you read that about Baylor's CBs because it's not true. I think the story you read might have been talking about DTs.

Wow, surprise surprise, an 0-2 start and we are ready to dump the QB. You people are insane, now I know you know where I stand, but come on. I didnt see the Baylor game, but 5 dropped balls doesnt surprise me. Before you go dumping the QB give him someone who will catch the d*mn ball. I mean come on, these guys are on scholarship? Richard will be fine...he cant do it alone...

I just heard bits and pieces of the game on the radio, and it did sound like there were a lot of drops. Can't blame Bartel for those. Sure, he missed some receivers, too (I heard Rich and Craig say he overthrew Trey Griffin twice on a single drive when Griffin was open both times), but he's still in his first season as a starter, if you count the games he's played in. Give Bartel time - he's still going to be a good one.
