musicMaybe we could invest in someone to pick out good music...how about some music to pump up the players and crowd rather than the music that puts them to sleep. The music being played before the games is the worst I have ever heard if you ever go and watch the team warm up its a downer. Lets put our money on a DJ to make a pump up tape. I doubt Texas or Oklahoma listen to Marvin Gaye or any of that other miserable music before games. Maybe the Administration is in charge of the music and wants to kill the players emotions just like everything else.......

If a PA system blares in a stadium, and no one is there to hear it, is sit still loud?

Re: music
Jungle fever "music". And exactly WHO - in attendance while the teams warm up - cares to hear that garbage? Play to your audience - some nice Lawrence Welk tunes performed by the Champagne Music Makers would be nice - maybe a few bubbles floating upward from the scoreboard.
Why don't we just let the band play - the way it used to be.
Forget all about that crappy music the think is going to draw the fans to the stadium. What a joke! BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
Quit bringing logical ideas to the table! They are just too preposterous!
LOL!!!!!!
Well said. BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

I agree wholeheartedly with this one. There is of course a place for some PA announcements of other events, but not every damn timeout, and not the full length of every damn timeout.
I would like to think that the players would be oblivious to what music is playing over the PA, being more focused on the game. Is that a fuddy-duddy idea? The stuff they've been playing is low-rent, ghetto- quality junk.
Thank you - again!!!
Let's get it changed!!! In fact, what can we do to get it changed??? This crap blows out the whole "idea" about a college game-day environment!!! BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

Re: New PA/Audio System for Ford Stadium!
I can understand that the volume is too low...just seems like a dumb mistake to make when building an entire new stadium. (Not that you needed me to tell you it was dumb!)
I can't help but notice that you guys noticed the pre-game music. It was tough to miss. On Saturday night, the sound guy put in the SMU Band CD and walked away to fix some other things. Here's the thing about that band CD - it also has that other stuff you heard on it. As soon as our marketing people could get upstairs and change it, it was changed (they had been at the AARO pep rally or would have been handling the music). Don't worry, we have hired a new person responsible for in-game production and he starts this week. It will never happen in a game (and hopefully never again even in a scrimmage). I think you'll all really like the new videoboard stuff, sound system and music this season. Thanks for coming out Saturday and GO MUSTANGS!
Interesting. Let's see what happens then.

SID: Thanks for monitoring this board. Hopefully you and the other AD reps understand that we are the most passionate S.M.U. fans around and that we want the BEST for the Mustangs and their fans.
