I've been the first to criticize the program's poor marketing in the past, so I feel it's only proper to recognize a truly good marketing initiative.
From Steve O's letter included in my season tickets:
"We know that many of you use your tickets to entertain clients. We are committed to supporting your efforts. If you cannot attend a game and will be giving your tickets to a client, please fill out and return the attached Customer Assistance and Retention Service form and we will be sure to stop by your seats to welcome your clients to Ford Stadium on your behalf and to make sure that they are having a great time."
Win-win.
The client feels like a VIP and SMU has the best shot (during a fun game in the gameday atmosphere) of converting a visitor to a future customer.
Brilliant!
Methinks that next year I'll have my company buy the season tickets and I'm going to pick up a couple extra for "clients"
Kudos to the Marketing Dept.

Small-time in a good way. This is straight from the soccer/Frisco Rough Riders, minor league baseball, etc handbook. Many will tour you through the locker room, let you get on the field, etc. We dont exactly have a large fanbase so this is good stuff.

Hey, a lot that goes into marketing is that people borrow successful ideas from others and use.
For example, the Rangers are trying something with about 600 seats that you pay $29 for your seat but you can eat/drink to a certain amount. It's all covered. They borrowed that idea from the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Marketing may have improved somewhat in the advertising area. That
remains to be seen. It's starting to SUCK in the distribution
department.
I ordered my season tickets in mid July, and am seriously worried I may not receive them before the Tech game.

I know when I was impressed after we beat TCU 2 years ago after having watched you beat Oklahoma the week before in Norman!

I doubt it will work, I bet when we reach our goal of "Top 25" guys like jtstang and Stallion will still be beachin & moanin about everything. i don't think they can help it.....it's just their nature to be negative. btw....smart move for Orsini marketing....a good time and welcome feeling will make people want to return

I can't believe my recent cantankerousness has not warranted more black horseshoes. What do I have do Eddie P?

I agree that it is a well thought of idea. People have bi**hed for years about the schools [deleted] poor job of marketing to the community. This is exactly what we need, nothing grand, but small steps.
I also liked the inclusion of the "free guest admission" ticket on the bottom of the season tickets for the Tulane game.
