there are some really unknowledgeable fans on here-the number of coaches that can go out on the recruiting trail is restricted by the NCAA not by a school's budget. Only coaches can recruit and all of them have always recruited for SMU. And I've had my head out of my [deleted] for the last 20 years unlike most of you.

So why were they hired? What do they do if they can't talk to or help in the recruiting process? I believe we all saw the hiring announcement. They have to have some positive purpose. Please do educate.

they don't "recruit". -you tell me. They may break down film-lick envelopes or pour punch when recruits visit. I don't know but non-coaches can't recruit off campus.

I believe this is one of them:

Obviously he works on the players once they get to campus for a visit (who knows). Not sure who the second person is. Bennett made the statement during one of his press conferences. He said that was part of the commitment he hasn't had since he has been here.

If you find the other one I would be interested. Even if they "lick envelopes and pour punch" they have a roll that was deemed important and not filled. I would image a recruitment letter out to a couple hundred extra recruits would bring an extra player or two.

Law of averages: the more you send out the more that can respond.
