Yeah, I have to admit I liked Gunny's post: Lets not make assumptions about why Barry isn't starting... But then he goes ahead and makes some assumptions lol.

We're going to rotate a bunch of DLs, anyway, so who takes the first snap isn't that important. Plus, from what I'm hearing, a lot of people are really impressed with Ryan Leonard and Serge Elizee, and some folks around here make it sound like Justin Smart is Justin Rogers reincarnated.

Don't care much who starts, as long as whoever is on the field makes plays.

Now I am worried. Do you think this could be some of the football Coach B forgot and he thinks it is Justin Rogers?

We knew that we had some issues going into the season on the line. Smart is a concern because we only have frosh backups at DE. Losing Griffen hurt a bit. These guys shouldn't be playing until their Sophomore year on the line.

That said, Leonard starting doesn't cause me concern. Berry is a known quantity, and while he gives a lot of effort, is nothing special. If a frosh beats him out, that is a good thing. Parham, Berry, and Serge are three players with experience, if Leonard can move past any of them in the rotation it says more about him than our lack of depth.

The DL is obviously a major concern for the game on Monday. We have to be able to put pressure on Harrell to have a chance. If he just sits back there, we will be in trouble.

The nice thing is that against a team like Tech, you can just kind of pin your ears back and go because they throw so much. Having youth would be more detrimental if we were playing a running team where defensive assignments and positioning are more important.

Serge actually doesn't have much experience in the defensive line. Played only 6 games in JUCO last year and moved from Offensive Line to defensive line as a Freshman JUCO. Played OLM in high school. Probably has less actual game experience on defense that you'll see at this level
