Yeah we are getting picked on by the small time bloggers and whatnot, but that's honestly better than nothing. It means people are paying attention for once, and it's not because we just demolished and the opposing team setting a new NCAA record for most TDs by a single player.
To be fair, those guys were laughing at an advertising campaign, not a football program.
Not entirely, most referenced the futility of SMU's football team (which is sadly true) and some even went to say that it won't ever change.

I gave CUSA the benefit of the doubt that is was overall the better conference. When are some of you going to get your heads out of your [deleted] enough to admit that the Sun Belt actually won the season series including the following victories:
NTSU 24 SMU 6(the greatest SMU team since Reagan)
Arkansas St.26 Memphis 23
ULL 31 UH 28 (Yipee! for the Conference Champs)
Troy 41 Rice 17(the greatest Rice team since IKE)
and now Rice loses to a Division 1AA school. Yes we have a better conference with more bowls ( most all of which we lost embarrassingly) and better TV-nobody suggested otherwise Erasmus. The point is that CUSA is much closer to the Sun Belt than it is to the even the MWC.

SMU 55 ASU 9 (the greatest SMU team since Reagan). NTU later lost to ASU 29-10. Go figure.

And using that logic I guess the 2-time champ FCS Appalachian State would be a favorite to win the Big Ten. And ULL must be better than Oklahoma State too since they are superior to UH.
Get a grip on reality. Those were single-handedly the worst games those teams played all season last year (probably because they overlooked them, or in our case piss-poor coaching along with overlooking the opponent). True, C-USA does not have the ability to overlook anyone and still count on pulling out a victory, but when two teams go to SEVEN overtimes because neither one can hit a field goal, that is embarrassing (e.g. UNT vs. FIU). To say that the Sun Belt and C-USA are on even ground is ignorant, to say the least.

Wrong. Rice lost to a Div. 1-A FCS (Football Championship Subdivision) team. Get your terminology straight.

I still find myself calling it 1-AA and probably will for the foreseeable future. Less syllables and all.
