We need to root out all people from this program that have this mindset. Send their [deleted] packing.

that Tech Tech is too tough for our poor little ponies! We need to schedule Sul Ross so we can go to the Tyler Junior College Bowl. Look the stated Goal is Top 25-either do what is necessary to reach that goal or pull the plug. Again TCU is 9-1 against the Big 12-what is the difference between the two programs. Not scheduling.

Wait, are you talking about me? Which incredibly controversial opinion of mine do you find so offensive? The idea that we should wait a few games before committing hara-kiri? Or the idea that maybe we shouldn't schedule arguably our toughest game of the season in Week #1?

Last time I looked, I still have five more games in my season ticket package. Before I decide the season is a complete failure, I am going to see how a couple more of those turn out. I might as well, I already paid for them. I guess I could dispute them on my credit card....

There you go again, Stallion. Getting PO'd about what you think you read between the lines rather than what anybody actually wrote.

What mindset are you referring to? I had the mindset before the Tech game that we sould beat them, or at the very least we would be very competitive. I truly believed this would be a statement game as PB said. I talked up SMU football to everyone and anyone and for what? To be completely EMBARASSED as usual.

Bottom line, mindset is based on performance. If you are used to winning, then you have a minset that you will beat your competition. You have confidence. You don't expect to lose.

If you are used to losing (as we all are by now), you expect the worst from your team so that you won't be dissapointed. Why should we expect anything different now?

Don't get me wrong, I DO think we will beat UNT and Ark St, and finish 2-2 NC. I do think we will win 6-7 games and earn a bowl birth.

But I DO NOT expect it.

If one were to give the state of Texas an enema, Lubbock is where you'd stick the plug.

well if you actually believed that SMU had a chance to beat Tech Saturday then you are as naive as the other 90% on this board.

To quote good ole Herm Edawards, "You play to win the game.."

If you think there's absolutely no chance of winning, why watch? How many people thought App State in Boone, NC would go into the Big House and beat #5 Michigan?? But the team went in there and did it. They played to win the game, not just to go through the motions.

Yes, I may be naive but I thought we had a chance to win. That's why I watched and why I was so dissapointed by our showing. The line was only 8.5 as I recall.

Reread my original post and show me where I even suggested we should not have scheduled Texas Tech. I said we shouldn't have scheduled them Week #1. Quit arguing about what you think you read between the lines.

Another soon to be satisfied customer of the "no expectations" philosophy. Congratulations sir, you are in for a season of no disappointments, but hopefully many pleasant surprises.
