Impact of getting blown out on national TV?

Postby SMU2007 » Mon Sep 03, 2007 9:54 pm

do you guys think that this loss is more damaging to our recruiting effort since it was on national tv? i'm not sure how many people nation-wide bothered to watch the abomination that was today's game but i feel like there were very little positives that we advertised to the nation today. hopefully we can come back and be a force in c-usa but for now, we aren't going to attract anyone when we get blown out by a mid-tier big 12 team without putting up a single touchdown at home...

Wait for the end of the season to see what the record is and then you'll know what the recruiting will look like. This game was on Labor Day. The season ends on Thanksgiving weekend.

The perception is still the same

The blowout loss to Tech on TV just perpetuates the perception that football fans have about SMU; it doesn't make it worse because it wasn't very good to begin with. If PB stays, he will keep getting the same kind of players we have already.

What ticks me off the most about the game is how flat we came out, despite the publicity, despite the hype, despite this being PBs 'greatest team'....they looked totally unprepared. This is a game they've known about for months. This is a team that runs the same annoying offense for years. It's no secret they run it 5 times a game then pass little short routes for 5-10 yard 50+ times per game. We were out manned but I thought PB would have had some game plan to keep it interesting.
