What's Hot and What's Not

Postby PerunaPunch » Mon Sep 03, 2007 8:55 pm

Hot: SMU QB Justin Willis looked noticeably faster and even more elusive. A good thing too because...

Not: The Offensive Line leaked like a sieve.

Hot: Jesse Henderson and Thomas Morstead.

Not: much pressure on Harrell. Although I did get my hopes the one time he did get knocked down because for a minute there it looked like he might not be getting up.

Hot: Mitch Enright and Andrew McKinney for a couple of awesome open field tackles. Too bad they're both supposed to be on offense, because...

Not: The defense seems to have forgotten how to tackle over the summer.

Hot: The running game. Looked to me like the backs were averaging about 6 yards per carry.

Not: The passing game.

Hot: The Boulevard. Still a great time. Wonderful seeing all the PonyFans again.

Not: Steve O. for poor gameday preparation. The Jumbotron color was out of whack. The rented sound system sucked... It was actually painful (I don't know what moron they're using for an audio consultant, but they'd be smart to hire a real acustician -- www.synaudcon.com -- not just some numbskull who has a bunch of big speakers. Steve, if you're reading this, same goes for Moody). The production folks in the booth were clearly on crack; they couldn't sync the prerecorded messages with the video, and the levels were all over the place.

Hot: The Red Raider fans sitting behind us. Nice bunch of folks. But what the heck were they doing on the fifth row, 50-yd-line? Shouldn't that be reserved for the Mustang Club?

Not: I hate to say this. But a big "not" to my beloved Mustang Band. Who's bright idea was it to have the dance team accompanied by "Rich Girl"? Jeez, talk about reinforcing an unwanted stereotype. And speaking of the dance team, they didn't appear to be... how do I say this tactfully... up to their usual form after taking the summer off. Not the most flattering outfits.

Hot: Under the coaches' collars.

I thought the Fiddler on the Roof halftime show was terrible. That's not the music to be playing at the half. It gets absolutely no one excited about your product.

And the two trumpeters on the top of the press box? Whatever.

On the other hand, the dance girls looked great, especially the little brunette in the front. Glad she's back. She is HOT!!!

Agreed - poor choice for half time - that fiddler on the roof thing is a zzzzzzzzzzzzzz - sunrise it not bad, but the rest is a snooze fest. You have a (near) sell-out and you give them a ten minute valium??

Dance team needs to take a few laps around the track.

That was one of his own linemen that landed on his leg, our pass rush didnt touch him.

Zach Rhodes averaged 6 yards, 1 carry for 6. Martin was 8 for 38 (4.6 ypc) and Mapps 6 for 27 (4.3 ypc)

Very, very, very interesting. When I tried to renew my season tickets in July I was told they'd already been sold to someone else. Now I know who they were sold to. Isn't that special.

Absolutely INEXCUSEABLE that a back like Martin only gets 8 carries in a game like this. Junk the passing attack, go back to the Pony Express I formation and give this HOSS the BALL!

Yeah, we were lookin' for ya big fella. Shame on you for not renewing on time, but good grief, you've been the most stalwart PonyFan for a generation. I hate to see a section that should be reserved for SMU's best supporters get prostituted out like that.

I initially thought that the ticket office had sold those seats in our area to the tech fans, but since that area is a season ticket area and every year a lot of those folks are no shows, I'm thinking those tech students were squating and had migrated down from their endzone seats. We should have had security check their ticket stubs...especially those three fat girls screaming like five year olds. The urge to kill was strong...but I resisted.

Just another example of how the Mustang Club is beholden to their most loyal members. Sad.

The game got out of hand, and he got hurt several times last year. Personally, I would have pulled Willis and Sanders and McCann and the starting offensive line and Givens and other key starters earlier, too. No need for them to get hurt in that game. Rest them for the short week, which is a factor that can't be overlooked. That, plus the fact that we have to look at Southlake Carroll tape, makes me more nervous about this game than we should be.
