Tech fans snickered and jeered at that. Don't they know it's too high school?

It doesn't matter what they yell...opposing fans will laugh at the fact that we can't stop them on third down. Tech went 10-15.

That's a real beaotch slap to the face, Tceh fans thinking anything is below them/highschool-ish.
Actually, the fans in my section just used it as a cue to get ready to stand up and chant "first down raiders", since short of taking a knee, we weren't going to stop them.

I will just say it once this year, but I absolutley loathe hearing our announcer ask for a "Little 3rd Down Thunder." I believe that he thinks that this is his signature call but it is just a total arse whipping every time. I am also sick and tired of having to listen to my 9 year old son tell me how much he hates it. So if there is one thing I can wish for is that our PA voice suffers a nasty case of lockjaw that only afflicts him on 3rd down.

Third down thunder= quick slant for a gain of 1 more yard than needed for a first down.

I do enjoy it when he says "FIRRRRRRRST Down Mustangs!"

Only wish he said it more.

I wonder if Mustang Realty knows what they're sponsoring. Surely they're not paying for that garbage we stole from Grapevine High School. Even they stopped doing it after 1 season.

Hearing "3rd down thunder" when we're down by 4 TD's and giving up 3rd downs all day did get really old and was embarassing.
Reminds me of going to a Rangers game and when the opposing team brings in a relief pitcher they still play "hit the road Jack" even though the Rangers could be down by 4, 5, or even more runs......it's nothing to get excited or brag about.

PLEASE, PLEASE,PLEASE--Get rid of "Third Down Thunder". That is so embarrassing. I have been receiving e-mails and VM's from Tech friends mocking our third down cheer.

I think Orsini got that idea from of all places ECU. I saw him there and he mentioned to me that he heard ECU has a great in game program. Of course there they go Third Down and have some noise like a shark being raped by a whale. And after first down, they go "First Down Pirates", and the crowd goes ARRRGH. I thought this is truly stupid. Orsini seemed to think that was pretty cool stuff and now apparently has incorporated it into our game day experience. I guess he wanted to try some things out to see if something would make the game more enjoyable to fans.

I think we have had "...third down thunder" longer than Orsini's been here...unfortunately. It had to do with the stomping of feet on the upper level aluminum flooring thus sounding like thunder. It worked for awhile, but booming the call for thunder out over those hideously too loud speakers, after most of the SMU fans had left was a big mistake...even I wanted to laugh (or more likely cry) at the absurdity of it.
