Silver liningWe gave up 7 TDs. Not good but I think we need to believe in our boys.
The D slowed Tech down in the first half. ESPN said that Harrell was given the freedom to choose his receivers and this is true but they did not get much after the catch. The drives were longer than Tech is used to and even though we struggled to stop them I take my hat off to Harrell who really was deadly. Our kickoff returns look good, even if the lads did get in each others way. That should take 5 seconds of blasting by a coach to fix. Morestead is a stud. Our running game was not given much of a chince but I suspect it will be potent when Phil gives it a chance. Willis will be great again this year. He had very little to throw at yesterday and our receivers can only get better after what I assume will be a week of intensive how-to-catch-a-ball drills. We need our offense on Saturday. Big time.
Well if we lose to UNT, then we're screwed. I expected to lose this, but with everything going on (hype, national TV, PBs best team yet, home opener, etc.) i thought the game would be competitive. At least it's only a few more days til we can tailgate again and beat UNT!
If we lose to UNT, i will right a petition to the president of SMU to get rid of SMU Football forever!!!
no way we lose to unt...again
Re: Silver liningI just got off the phone with a buddy from UT and he said that the greatest indicator of a team is how they improve from Game 1 to Game 2. He said you have to treat Game 1 like your first "real" game with pads. More simply put, Game 1 is your first all out scrimmage. There are a lot of kinks in the system that are discovered in the first game. The second game a lot of those things are smoothed out. Having said this, it still doesn't explain what happend to us last year in Game 2 against North Texas, but we have more continuity coming into this year than last year between Game 1 and Game 2. I am hoping for the best.

Re: Silver lining
Both Mike "Cave-in" Cavan and Phil Bennett have said that as well............. ![]()
Re: Silver lining
Oh well....at least I felt good for five minutes. If Cavan and Bennett have said that before, then cow chips are about to hit the windmill come next week. "Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion" - Rudy T.
Re: Silver lining
Todd Dodge says it too. Should we all be worried?
