Belo gives $15 mil to UT.
Couldn't find the accompanying photo from today's DMN, but it includes DMN publisher Jim Maroney holding the "Hook 'Em Horns" sign high. Classic.
(Gee, and his journalistic sensibilities probably wouldn't allow him to even endorse a political candidate, now would it?)

He's an alum. Do you complain when companies controlled by the Hunts give money to SMU?

Members of the media showing bias is different. That's why Jon Stewart always makes fun of Fox News.
It's a crappy job but someone's gotta do it.

The Hunts don't run a supposedly neutral media outlet either.
Just out of cruiosity, do you think the Hunts make their donations in silver?

And John Stewart shows a complete bias to favor the democrats. So what's your point?
The days of the impartial media are over. Been gone for more than 10 years. They are losing marketshare, need to make money and will invest in anything if they can find a return.
It's pretty transparent. What Fox News does is no different than what the New York Times does.

The difference is that Stewart has always admitted he was an entertainment outlet, not a media outlet. And if you watch his show over a period of time you realize that he makes fun of incompetency across party lines. Though he has had a lot of material to work with in the current administration.
Impartial media is not dead here in Europe. And why do we have to accept that as the norm in America?
In my company we get disciplined and even fired for even giving the appearance of a conflict of interest.
It's a crappy job but someone's gotta do it.

This is a donation by a media outlet to a journalism school. The controlling people at the media outlet are alums of the school. I'd bet this is commonplace.

Impartial in Europe? Maybe in Denmark, but not in at least London.
You might want to refer to a internal report the BBC did on itself a couple of months ago and found it was completely off the charts when it came to playing anything down the middle.

You should watch the show. Jon Stewart's favorite politician is easily the Republican McCain. Jon also poked fun of the Democrat presidential candidate for being non committal. Part of it is Republicans won't come on his show. McCain will and Jon fawns all over him.
Stewart admits he has a FAKE news show. They parody the NEWS, not politicians. They are making fun of news outlets like Fox and Belo. They are on COMEDY CENTRAL. They are not a news show, a politcal show, or any show that promotes any point. They are a nightly extended version of SNL's Weekend Update. There is the difference. Belo is a real news outlet. The Daily Show is a FAKE news show making fun of the real news outlets.
The news media just doesn't have a sense of humor and doesn't always understand The Daily Show is making fun of them. O'Reilly gets it and doesn't mind Colbert making fun of him.

You'd be surprised how many twenty-somethings get their news from Stewart's "fake" news show.

But they also know the source and take the information for what it is.

If it makes anyone feel better WFAA (owned by Belo) built a state-of-the-art TV studio for the journalism kids to use at SMU a few years ago.
