SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Sounds like a good guy. Talks about how hard it is to come home from practice and study. He's right, if you've ever played a strenuous sport, you know how hard it is to crack the books after having had your [deleted] worked off by your coach. I respect what all these athletes do, except the golfers that is, no offense.
