Saw Johnnie after the game. I busted his chops a little for wearing a North Texas shirt, and he said he was happy the Ponies won, of course, but asked for a one-day pass from abuse for a day — "this is blood." He had a pretty good smile going, saying he was rooting for his former teammates to win, but said he and his mother were understandably more ecstatic with Casey's performance. So he asked again for me to take it easy on him for showing support for his brother by wearing the North Texas shirt. I shook his hand and said that's fair .... until a couple of his former teammates walked by and said they wouldn't be so forgiving, and began busting his chops all over again about the shirt.

Looked like he could play today, if he had to.

From what I was told, he wanted to come here, but didn't get in.

Its sad to see the people we can't get in dominate us on the playing field

Craig and Rich mentioned that he wasn't really a D-1 recruit, I think NTS mgiht have been the only D-1 team to give him a shot

Not a D-1 recruit in what manner - athletics or academics?

I actually thought McCann played the best of the 3 corners (of course that is like saying his $%it smells the least offensive). Jones and Lindley looked absolutely lost most of the night.

Athletically, they made it sound like NTS was his only option

Casey was a walk-on, non-scholarship player. He had a good showing in the Spring and TD gave him a scholarship when Fall practice started.

not sure about. A non-qualifer can attend a university he is admitted to but can not receive academic aid. So he could have had an academic issue that kept other schools away. That's where state schools with low tuition and low academic standards can get in some decent recruits. Not really sure about Fitzerald. I followed him in high school and posted some things about him after a couple of nice games. I can't remember exactly what I said. Something tells me he may have even been the Player of the Week in one game.

Proving, once again, why the Ticket is a weak sport's station. Fitzgerald walked on at NT and paid his own way. Dickey wouldn't give him a scholarship, but he stayed after it, proved himself to Dodge and earned his scholarship this year.

Question, who is the stadium announcer at Ford? Also, isn't it illegal to play "noise" over the PA when plays are being called at the line?

The stadium announcer is bad. That's an accepted fact.

I believe it is the referee's discretion as to whether or not to flag a home team for noises played over the PA. I could be wrong on that, however.
