Update on Aryland StateArkyland State was to play Memphis this last weekend. The game was postponed to Sept. 27. This was due to lightening.
Last year, Arkyland State crushed Memphis in Memphis on a 52-yard last second Hail Mary pass. We are all aware that Arkyland State lost last week to the be knighted Longhorns with the help of Big 2 officials (final score 21-13. The estimated crowd was to be close to 30,000. We have the advantage of two games and a win. WE have the advantage of learning from our mistakes and improving the areas of the game where we are strong.
we have the advantage of having some decent players

As opposed to darkening?
I'll say it again, if people think ASU is the same team from last year, they will be unpleasantly surprised. The QB and RB are legit playmakers. Their defense is a lot faster than one would think as well.
You also have the disadvantage of not having seen ASU play against someone of like talent. Had the Memphis game taken place as scheduled that would have told SMU a lot of what to expect. As it stands, all they have to go on is the UT game. ![]() Official Cult of Chris Phillips Member
As a general rule, experience during the season is an advantage over less experience opponents. This advantage is gone by the third or fourth week of a season. ArkySU prepared for a week to play Memphis and ended up with an off week. We had a short week and now have the same amount of time as Arkyland State to prepare. And we have played solid teams (please do not underestimate NTSU. Those players were prepared and came to play).
Before we totally enshrine ASU into the greatest team of the 21st century, let us remember this is teh same team that said we beat them badly last year because they did not know we were going to run the spread offense and did not prepare for it. We had only been doing it for 4 years at that time.
I do realize that here in Arkansas we only get an artist rendering rather than actual game films, but I do think they should of had an idea as to the offense were had run for almost 50 straight games. Hopefully they will think we scrapped it after last year and are now running the power I.
I hardly consider sending first-graders with crayons to scout out SMU counts as a artist's rendering. ![]()
You forgot "horse" rendering. That happens this Saturday! Seriously, while in the Army in Germany, I had some meals with horse meat and they were delicious. Oh, while at game in Jonesboro, you should keep the game last year in mind, turn the scores around and you'll have this years game.
We have found a quick witted ASU fan!! Must be a relative. Welcome aboard, but be afraid, be very afraid. (ok the first person to say I meant dim witted if he is a relative gets my ire.)
Re: Update on Aryland State
That would be assuming that our coaching staff can prepare a game plan based on the other teams strengths. And if ASU or any other program figures out how to scout a Rusty Burns offensive game plan, they must work for the psychic hotline. I'm not sure Burns thinks ahead far enough to guess what he is thinking.
I would say 38 points versus 9 points might show some improvement. I am much less worried about our offense than I am our defense. I think the offense found their pace this week and will only get better. They will score. The question is wil they be able to score enough.
SMU Road Kill is coming to youLook out ASU, the SMU road kill is heading for highway 49. Maybe the Indians will slip on the grease spots. It could happen.
