Justin Willis' career game -- Congrats!!

Postby George S. Patton » Mon Sep 10, 2007 11:18 am

If this was discussed, it definitely got lost in the we didn't do this or that theme.

But let's give our QB Justin Willis some major kudos for a career game of 30-42-1 for 353 yards and two TDs and 82 rushing yards. You can see where he may be a smidge off on some throws but to still put up an effort like that is something we have rarely seen from the QB position since the death penalty.

This is why this guy is on our campus. A solid talent who will make others better. Keep it up Justin. Hopefully, an outstanding season awaits!!

Some guy on the CUSA board called him over-rated? Don't you need to be "rated" to be over-rated?

Well done Willis!

i think he's over-rated between smu fans. i mean come on north texas is bad, i will say this though he stayed in the pocket and made some good passes. But when he starts to scramble i still hold my breathe, he's not that big, takes alot of hits he shouldnt take and i remember the fumble problems of last year

I believe Meager was just worn out by the fourth quarter. Kind of like a pitcher going over the 100 pitch make. We had the same problem a few years back with Kincaid. He seems to just wear out after the 40th carry.

Yes, Daniel isnt the true protype QB for Dodgeball or a "true" passing spread O. He can throw the ball but playing with him for so many years, hes not the type that will throw it on every down...he threw over 60 passes I think...still had a terrific game that he'll never forget

Well said, GSP.

If Givens hangs on to that should-be touchdown, Willis would have topped 400 yards. Hell of a performance — here's to more of the same, starting this week.

That throw to Givens was a thing of beauty. Unfortunately, I started celebrating prematurely.

Where? Don't you think he will leave at the end of the season when the head coach leaves? He has threatened us before!

Actually,

I think Meager looked pretty bad, which means our secondary is even worse than it looked.

His receivers made a lot of great catches and adjustments to many of his passes....very few were perfect....its just that his receivers were so wide open they had time to properly adjust and still catch it. Any QB in D2 or even high school coulda hit receivers that wide open, with many looking better doing it. If UNT had a better QB, he woulda probably not had those picks and over 700 yards and we would have lost.

Worst six hundred yards of passing you will ever see
