But they did, and they didn't. And SMU won. 8)

But they could of, and SMU loses! It was sad enough that the ponies did give up over 600yds passing to NORTH TEXAS!!!

And god himself could have appeared at the 50 yard line just in time to sack Daniel Meager and end a drive. Point is, it didn't. But it could have!!!

That would have been AWESOME!

And he does this after the sack.

I see this as another RECORD SETTING GAME for SMU FOOTBALL, but we are on the wrong side of the records. But I also see this as a very winnable game. The O showed up last week and maybe the D will show up this week.

Game goes into OT after Jessie Henderson returns a very late KO for a TD. SMU wins in first OT 36-33

me@smu wrote:docpoco - Regardless about the comment regarding talent, lets have a look at the players you are amped about:

Corey Leonard - We saw him last year, good arm not a good head. I am sure he improved. And honestly, if the dude really had a scholarship to LSU do you really think he would be at Arkie State? Specially being from Louisiana?

Preston Brown - I am guessing you are talking about the 3* #87 ranked RB in the country according to Scout??? Oh and he did not get an offer from Miami unless you mean Ohio...someone is lying to you.

Paul Henry - This guy is a stud...not sure how he ended up at ASU.

Linzy Harris - By 3/4 you mean 2 (rivals) / 3 (scout)? Same kid who didn't catch a pass in your first game?

William Anderson - This guy is a 3* 5.5 rated kid...actually very good! Got nothing but good things to say about this one.

Stanley Porter - Another 3* 5.5 rated kid. Another good one though he lists such offers as Alcorn St., Jackson St., Mississippi Valley and Div II as his only other committable offer. Sounds like he got the raw deal from Ole Miss.

Adam Gaston - I am not sure what a snapper is? Are you saying your long snapper is better than ours because if that is your game plan than I will give it to you. Cheers!

Finally we come to Reggie Arnold. He can play and 6.2 is impressive. I like this kid, he plays tough.

Alright so overall assessment: You amp a QB that completed under half his passes and threw as many ints as TDs last year, you shout for a DB who had 1 pick last year, a long snapper which is just funny, and 4 true freshman who I can't even tell if they are starting.

This is just my opinion though.

Say what you want about the QB. He wasn't even the starter at SMU, though he clearly should have been, despite his being a freshman. He has only thrown 1 interception in the past 5 games. Not to mention his completion percentage against Texas was 64%. He did have an offer from LSU to play DB, but he had already committed to play QB for South Carolina when Lou Holtz got fired.

Preston Brown DID get an offer from both Miami and Tennessee, but committed to Oklahoma State to follow his idol Barry Sanders. Was nearly a prop and OSU gave away his scholly. We were very lucky to get him last minute. And his rankings depend solely on which site you go to, but here is rivals

Why dont you go ahead and check those college choices at the bottom before you pop off any further.

And if you don't think Tyrell Johnson is the real deal, you might check his 25 tackles in a single game record. Or ask Texas fans what they thought of him. He is ranked in nearly everyone's top 10 safeties in the country.

Our LB was also a 3 Star 5.5 (Ben Owens).

My point was, the recruiting "ho-hum" comment is ridiculous. We have several solidly recruited players. Several of whom will be key in beating SMU on Saturday.

Which begs the question. What in the hell about SMUs recruiting would have someone questioning someone elses recruits???

Thank you for showing me the light. You are clearly showing me that Arkansas State is where the future of college football is. It's obviously located in one of the great cities of America. Really, why didn't I think about all the benefits of being in that town when I made my college choice? I cry when I think of all the connections I could have made with the prestigious alumni of Arkansas State University. Also, everyone knows that a degree from ASU and you are set for your future.

The main point is that ASU the place where the best of the best come to play football. All hail the mighty Indians!!

They could have beaten UNT last year too, but they didn't.
Let's see...Last year at this time SMU was 0-2; this year, is 1-1.
What are you doing talking up impossible hypotheticals (seeing as how unless you have a Harry Potter time-stoppper, we can't go back for a redux)? Simply ridiculous.

Just because this is fun...please go back and check the rivals link on Preston Brown...see that little button that says offer at the top. See Miami where it isn't checked...Do I really have to explain how this works?
Also notice you didn't reemphasize his #18 RB in the nation claim again, I am guessing you realized that he was #18 all purpose back but there are at least 67 RBs with a higher ranking than 5.5. And that is giving him the benefit that he was the highest rated 5.5 back.

Regarding Corey Leonard, I gave you that he had a strong arm. But noticed when you talk about him you choose the past 5 games? Question is why not discuss that 6th when he three 3 ints and 0 tds against FAU of all people?

Regarding your DB's tackles record...Doesn't this mean people are either running for big gains or completing some passes...either way not good. I know our Safety last year lead or was 2nd in tackles for our team and it wasn't something I was proud of.

Maybe they came out of their shell in Game 2 this year - it took game 3 against Div1aa to do that...

SMU 31
ASU 21

Givens scores a late touchdown to make it 24-21. ASU intercepted moments later (INT-TD) 31-21.
