This Offense Is Not Being Run Correctly

Postby Stallion » Sat Sep 15, 2007 9:41 pm

I pointed this out to expony18 last week, but you can count on one hand how many times executed the correct read from the shotgun. Notice I didn't blame this on Willis only. Hell the only thing that keeps us in games are his ability to improvise. But if you watch a quality shotgun team like Texas Tech their QBs and WRs are so precise and the passes are so crisp-it often doesn't matter where the DBs are. As I said last week-the ball isn't being delivered where it needs to be or the WRs aren't where they need to be EVEN on the completions. I bet Willis improvised on 85% of the pass plays. That shouldn't be necessary in this offense.

kind of hard to run the o correctly when he's running for his life 2/3 of the time.

Martin only has 6 carries for 3 yards. This guy needs to get the ball a LOT more! Willis' problem is that he wants to do it all. A good quarterback will figure out a way to get the ball to his playmakers.

just when I said that Willis and Lowery execute the inside screen to perfection. It needs to be that sharp most of the time. Ball delivery and execution of the pass route is usually missing

When your OL & DL are man-handled by an ArkSt, you have to ask why our recruiting can't find someone over 6' tall.

I love our effort & I believe these guys are more athletic than in recent years, but you gotta have afew guys who can go 4Q against 300 Lb- refrigerators.

There's no point in feed him the ball when he just loses yardage. There are no holes for D-Martin to run through. Before he can get any momentum he has a defender on him.

That's because our OL sucks. The primary reason it sucks is the type of offense that we run! Its time for a CHANGE!

One point to make...
When we get the ball backed up in our end zone.... what was the call.

Lined up Martin in the I and got 4 yards.

Martin is BIG, Stong and Fast.

Running east and west does not start a good play.

North and south gets the job done.

We do not even line up correctly, IMHO.

See you at the UTEP game.

I have been saying it for three years - martin needs the I - it will change our lives if they get it done. When we beat TCU is was becasue Martin was given the ball and some mo to run (I dont recall this ridculous formation for that game, but maybe I am recalling it incorrectyl.
