how's that working out for Notre Dame right now? honestly, would you be confident that even the ordained Charlie Weis would be a success at SMU? I don't think he would. Thats how hard of a fit this job is. I am not saying there aren't good candidates, but this is a hard job to match with a candidate. Phil Bennett's profile is not as far away as you think. Fairly solid football background, fairly young and energetic, Texan, good with people anytime he wants to be. And above all, he runs a clean program. No problems in 6 years. I am as frustrated as anybody, but some of you need to keep the personal insults out of it. Grow the F up.

We dont need an old [deleted] re-tread in here living off of his name.

Would be funny to beat TCU after all this.

Post of the year.

We're ALL frustrated. That was a long drive back from Jonesboro. Kudos to all who chose to sleep on it for a night before coming on here and blasting everyone you've ever known related to SMU in the heat of the moment.

Defense was overmatched (I know, not exactly breaking news). For what it's worth, though, I didn't see a lot of guys quitting. Justin Willis was trying to light a fire under guys on the sideline, right to the end. The more I see that guy play, the more I think we found a very special player.

i like willis too. he has a comeback mentality and a never say die attitude that i havent seen around here in awhile at qb. I'll take that all day long even if he makes mistakes too. we did close to within 28-21 and looked like we could finish the deal before it slipped away again. I give credit for not giving up.

agreed - willis played a good game. sad thing is, you watch the sideline, most of the offense and most of the defense, they just aren't fired up. EVER. Vic Viloria - man i wish we could slap pads back on him; his slapping and smacking the defensive player's helmets prior to a series is the most energetic and enthusiastic individual i saw on the sideline yesterday.

I can’t get over how bad we are defensively. We have no playmakers and teams throw at will on us. I know we’ve had a few injuries, but our poor defense alone should cost Bennett his job.
