It's too bad really, because if we still had Ownby it would be a lot easier to disband this ridiculous program.
I still maintain that Ford would be such an attractive place to play it would help SMU get many of the best Div 1AA recruits and make us a Div 1AA powerhouse. I might have expectations then. We should drop down to where we belong.

I'm afraid that your having to go to a soccer game for homecoming has permanently injured your brain...we do not belong in a lower division, we need an administration geared to the division we are in and a HC similarly geared.

Well if we don't have those, and we haven't for twenty years, then we belong in a division better suited to what we have.

Change is needed no doubt, but you are looking at the easy way out. You would ultimately be no happier with SMU at a lower division than you were with your homecoming games being a soccer game.

Wrong, pk. Unlike the majority of this board, I would continue to provide the same level of support, going to games and hanging out on the 'vard, to a d-1AA mustang football program. I would also hope that we would then shift our focus to becoming a d-1a power basketball school.

I'm disappointed in you jt...you are too willing to limit yourself...and us. I would prefer we become a D-1A power house in both basketball and football. Besides, the Vard would be a lonely place in a lower division status...if it even existed at all.

Just to confirm then, you are one of the majority that I mentioned?

My expectations would be we would become a mediocre Div 1AA
team We were average in the SWC, WAC large, and WAC
small and the CUSA. We just rise, and fall with the water level.
Let's learn to swim with the big boys. Its more fun to have big crowd
with TT on ESPN even if they swim laps around us in the pool for now.

Probably...I don't go to high school games, I don't go to D-1aa games nor do I go to pro games. My interest in sports is pretty well focused on D1-A sports and football in particular. You were not happy with a soccer game home coming and you don't think too highly of Sam Houston State...so how am I to believe that you would even be interested in an SMU team at a lower division level. Do you currently follow any D-1aa team? If all you really want to do is sit around with a bunch of people and drink...you don't need a game to do that. It's a nice talking point for you and allows you to be a contrarian, but I don't believe you. If we dropped down, you would become a full time UT fan instead of a part time one.
