Scattershooting.....I know this matters not to many if any on this board, but for those that like to gripe about the lack of coverage on SMU by the DMN, let it be known that today there is no mention, none, nada, zilch, nil, nothing about the ASU football team, be it our loss, their upcoming game, their toenail growth, nothing. Several articles about the pass interference call against Arkansas vs. Alabama, but nothing on ASU. If any of my local Arkies saw anything I missed let me know but I scanned it pretty well to see if there was anything of interest about SMU but I found nothing at all.
But there was a nice article about how the officials, once again, denied the beloved Razorbacks of their 88th consecutive National Championship. Seems the dastardly officials once again had the audacious bias to call a pass inference against the beloved Razorbacks and to measure for a first down late in the game. Expect more articles this week about the horrible officiating.
Maybe Wally Hall and the boys are just stupid. He picked them to go 10-2.
I thought the PI call was correct. The first down measurement had to be done because the guy was right at the stick. Houston Nutt was pensive because he wanted them to wind the clock and did his arm in that motion. So their media fed off of that. Maybe Houston and his defensive coaches can talk to each other about playing a prevent and letting 'Bama go about 70 yards.
Mrydel, you are reading the wrong newspaper. The Sunday Jonesboro Sun had nearly two full pages on ASU and only a few columns on the Razorbacks. Let's see, lead with SWEET REVENGE with columns, Indians Slam SMU and Quarterbacks put on a show (actually complimentary of Willis). Interestingly, ASU's sophomore QB, Corey Leonard accounted for a Career High 318 total yards and five touchdowns while Willis had 339 total yards and four touchdowns.
