Winning 6 out of 8 conference games will be tough. But it is looking like that is what we will have to do for Bennett to keep his job. Getting by USM, Houston, and Tulsa all on the road. hmmmm.

If we go 6-2 in conference, Bennett will definitely have saved his job. We'd also probably win the Western Division.

there is no way we go 6 -2 in conference unless we have 8 games at home.....

I wouldn't be so sure that PB will save his job if he goes 6-2 in conf. That means we will have 7 wins. Although that is an improvement over last year, the lack of a competitive showing in our losses to date, if it continues in other losses, will offset 7 wins. Orsini and most Mustang fans will not be satisfied with 1 more win if we are getting drilled in our losses and are not competitive. Don't forget getting laughed at on national tv by the commentators after our "all out" bliltz call. Imo 7 wins doesn't necessarily equate to PB "definitely" keeping his job.

Gentelmen, stick a fork in his ars... he's done. The pressure is off. As Clayton Williams would say, "Just sit back and enjoy the rest of the season."

You are an idiot if you think SMU will fire PB if he gets us to a bowl game. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. You may think PB deserves to get fired if he somehow manages a 7-5 season because of the two losses we have witnessed thus far, but that would be from an external perspective like shooting a horse that just won a big race because the ride was kind of bumpy.

If we go 6-6, make a bowl, and get rolled by a sunbelt team, you can bet the house PB is gone. The bottom line is somehow, someway the man MUST win 7 games or more this season otherwise he will be fired.

We didn't have to go to bowl, to get rolled by a Sun Belt team.

I think 7-5 is a must. And no more routs in the remaining losses. Otherwise Orsini will get us a new coach.

7 wins would be a 2-game improvement over last year. He saves his job. (ok, before the simpletons comment, we won only 5 Div-1a games last year...7-5 would be SEVEN Div-1a victories)

He saves his job PERIOD if he goes to a bowl-any bowl-win, lose or draw. Can you imagine the negative publicity SMU gets for firing the first coach who took SMU to a Bowl in 20 years. Think this through. And 6-6 would be improvement with this schedule. I picked 6-6 before the year-still think he's got a shot.

Stallion, I have been saying the same thing. He goes to the cereal bowl and he keeps his job. I forgot who said it, but you don't shoot the winning horse because the ride was bumpy.
Unfortunately, my worst fears about the defense have come true (actually, even worse than I imagined), and the offense is under too much pressure to score. I don't see 6-6 right now.
