Everyone is very high on Mike Walker, who is a true point. Ryan Harp played PG for his AAU team the Dallas Mustangs. Dubois is a combo guard. Also, I know SMU has an offer out to a PG here in Houston at Klein Collins that is very heavily recruited nationally, forgetting the exact name but I think is Demetric Goodson. I've posted on him a couple times on here.

Nice input. I've seen very few here mention Harp playing PG for his AAU team, and having seen him multiple times w/the Mustangs, I can tell you he does it pretty well. Walker played against great competition at South Kent. New England Prep League may be the most competitive in the nation, so he's seen the best. I have high hopes for both.

That said, if Harp is being counted on to give major minutes at the 2, it doesn't make a ton of sense for him to get a ton of run at the point beyond what is needed. Don't get me wrong, it'll help his skill set, but may not be in the best interest of the team for the long haul. Unless of course, he starts at point and that is his primary position down the road.

Goodson looks like he'll be waiting till Spring. Latest article has his Dad and advisers wanting to see things shake out. Thinks his stock will raise w/few PGs left on the board. In short, they are fishing for a bigger offer
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

My question/wild card for our team is Bennie Rhodes. For some reason he is the player I have heard the absolute least about, but also seems to have the upside to have as big of an impact as anyone. Fantastic numbers at Mt. Zion playing against rather strong competition. Where does he fit into the equation for SMU going forward? I feel like the expectations for him and his developement will have a significant impact on how things shake out in the backcourt.

And I agree that Harp will most likely see his time at the two, but I do think its worth noting he has the ability to play the one. IE we shouldn't pass on a very good player for a lesser point guard just to fill a position of need, if we genuinely felt both Walker and Harp can play the point effectively at the D1 level.

I will trust coach Doherty as a judge of talent and that his staff will further develop guys once they are here. Let's just get them here.

I want to see these guys sign early and then have monster senior years...and make the big boys wish they had scouted them earlier.

At least Doherty and his staff are looking "coast to coast"

For the person who asked, we are recruiting the guard out of Kimball. I need help with the name. Kid averaged about 17 points per game.

I glanced at Rivals and SMU is not on his list although Tulsa and TCU are.

stats from last year

I'm feeling a little Devon Pearson in this guy. He sure likes to rebound for a guard. Maybe he is playing against midgets.
