I'm throwing out a HUGE curveball here and I'm gunna get a lot of "huh" from this but...Turner Gill
Quarterback at Nebraska, quarterback coach at Nebraska, won a few National Championships there as well as teaching some of the best college QBs of that time.
He is now the coach at Buffalo. He's from Ft. Worth and he could be just the guy to finish the teaching process of J-Will.
Not to mention he was a graduate assistant at SMU in '91

had a very impressive win in opening game against Temple 42-7. Lost by what 20-25 to Penn St. I too will keep an eye on Turner Gill especially if SMU is not willing to Pony Up.

Gill also was a graduate assistant at SMU, and was thought to be an impressive recruiter, wasn't he?
As for teaching JWill ... Gill was an option QB. Willis obviously can run, but hopefully there would be a more conventional QBs coach in place if it ever came to this.
Before we get to that, however, BEAT THE DAMN FROGGIES!

Willis is also an option qb. He is certainly not a pocket guy.

he's not a pure option qb either... that's why the spread or west coast type offense is perfect for him.... he's smart, accurate, not a whole lot of arm strength, but makes decent decisions as a sophomore, and he is elusive. short to intermediate passes, and when the time is right go deep (thats what she said)

Anyone know what offense Buffalo runs?
Because Gill was an option QB, Tommie Frazier certainly was, but in the later years when Eric Crouch won the Heisman Nebraska was already starting to move away from the option.
I’m just seeing Gill as a guy who has experience working with quarterbacks and has gotten some experience in the past two years as a head coach.
