1 - 3 starts

Postby FordtoTolbert » Tue Sep 18, 2007 5:53 pm

Calm down...a 1-3 start, or worse, has happened at least 25 times in the glorious history of SMU football. Bill Meek was the king of the 1-3 starts....Hayden Fry was 11-30-1 in his first 4 years. In fact, before the 1966 Cotton Bowl year, he lost 3 straight at the end of the 1965 season, getting out scored 54 to 20 down that strech...glad we keep him around another season!?! Ron Meyer didn'y exactly light the world on fire his first 4...maybe we should have canned Ron after the 1979 season for losing 6 out of the last 8 that year? Matty Bell, before Doak showed up, had 6 straight losing seasons.......

I say what will happen will happen. Orsini knows what he is doing...what is the point of all this "we need to hire Terry Bowden or Joe Paterno" crap? It's silly...support the team...support the coaches, ALL the coaches, and show up at Amon Carter and raise some hell!! BEAT the FROGGIES!!

Bennett already had his first 4 years- he was 11-35 in those seasons. He was given a 5th season in which he went 6-6 and missed a bowl. He has practically come out and said if we don't go to a bowl this year he should be canned. The man has gotten lots of chances. The perception based on our play thus far is that we will in fact not make that bowl and he will be gone. Therefore people are looking forward to something resembling hope as opposed to the next Bennett failure.

One more time. It isn't the record, but how terribly we looked getting there. A win over NTU was plain lucky. It wasn't luck that got their qb over 600 yards!

A guy can't be positive / upbeat, PK?? Would you rather I rant about ALL these coaches we need to lure to the NCAA coaching graveyard? Would you rather I [deleted] about hot dog lines and parking polcies? Or is it more PonyFans.com-like to call everybody and anybody an idiot / stupid / dumb [deleted] / punk?

I'm tired of the BS from the "fans"...Orsini will get the job done. I trust he will make the right decision, either keep Phil, change policies, upgrade facilities and programs or look for another coach...the guy is a stud, he WILL turn this thing.

In the meantime, I'd rather look for the positives, support the program, not boycott it, and make some noise at Amon Carter....it is a MUCH better way to live..you ought to try it. GO MUSTANGS...Long Live Louie Kelcher.

FordtoTolbert...you have taken my remarks the wrong way. I gave you credit for being the voice of reason on this and I agree whole heartedly that we need to show up Saturday at Amon Carter. I just thought it was a little humorous and curious coming from you based upon some of your rants of the past...but all in all I applaud you for your voice of reason. Peace Brother. :)

So let me get this straight, we're lucky that we score enough to win, but they're not lucky because we suck. Is that what you're trying to say? Angels in the endzone, if you will? We won because their (extremely bad) QB threw the ball to us multiple times. Quit whining about the win and embrace it. It's all we have right now.

Sorry, Mex, UNT win wasn't luck.

The fact that their "O" could generate 600+ yds and LOSE proves they suck this year.

One punt staying out of the end zone and one fumble is all that seperated us from a loss to a team that "really sucks this year"!

That game was one of the sloppiest games I have every seen. Both teams looked like junior high high in execution.

Better look in your own mirror before you say NT 'sucks"

Postby Charlie NT73 » Wed Sep 19, 2007 9:28 am

SMU for the past 4 years has been running the same offense and
defense, so what is your record? Does your record suck ?
North Texas was 5-18 over the last 2 years-yeah-we sucked!
That is why Todd Dodge is at North Texas now-
North Texas is entering the first year of a new offense and defense,
and runs up 600 yards of offense on the phonies. Not too bad!
We lost the game, but- We got to see the begining of Dodge Ball!
Looked pretty damn impressive to many football fans and recruits!
North Texas now has 11 top commitments for the 2008 class.
Just keeps getting better and better. New stadium on the way,
scheduling top tier programs, # 4 school in the state for enrollment,
geez, things are looking very very good for North Texas.
Hey- how did your "Paid per view" televised game against Arkansas
State turn out?

Look you may not be alive when that new Stadium is built. Its an artist's rendering and that's it. Until there is some logical plan to fund that pretty picture or a single major donor then its pretty silly to say that the new Stadium is on its way. Most reasonable NTSU fans acknowledge that.

Also, lest we forget, NTSU lost to SMU with the great Todd Dodge and everything. They still suck.

I prediction NTSU beats Fla. Atlantic on Saturday. Just a thought.

Many I can't wait for Todd Dodge's one year audition to end.

Plus our network of bankers and financiers will conspire to insure that NTSU never gets the funding to build that stadium. Why? Just to single-handedly make sure that NTSU never reaches its potential.

Do we have any EPA lawyers who can see to it that NTSU's campus is declared a Superfund site requiring billions of dollars in clean up costs before they can turn over the first shovel on that new "stadium" they keep dreaming about?
