Ft. Worth Hotels are more excited about the car races than
TCU homecoming.

Which is totally understandable when considering that Texas

Motor Speedway's Nextel Cup Series drew an attendance of

191,000 in April 2007. Has there ever been a sporting event

in our state that drew that many people? :?

Ah, that makes total sense now. I should have known it was NASCAR. Lobo fans might have to stay in (gulp) Waco.

Considering the Byron Nelson had 85,000 on Saturday alone, I would imagine they outdrew that, but of course that is a 4 day event.

Here on the east coast people arrange their auto travels around various NASCAR dates, because of all the folks road tripping to race events. I-81 is a parking lot when they race at Bristol and Martinsville. Ditto on I-95 when they race at Charlotte or Richmond. That's sort of why I've thought if we made auto racing a sport in CUSA we'd start drawing 40-50,000 people easy to some of these venues. Of course the SMU team would drive either Fords or Mercedes.

Just a little 'reminder' about this Saturday's game in Cowtown.
