Forget TCU, lets copy TulsaTulsa has less than 3,000 undergraduate students, worse facilities (even though they are being upgraded), less attractive campus, etc. yet they seem to be on the right path and it has not taken them 20 yrs. to be competitive. Tulsa wins the road games it should (UL Monroe this year) and even plays and can beat real Division 1 teams (BYU this year), and not some 1-AA teams.
Tonight Tulsa is on ESPN and while it may get whacked by Oklahoma it has been talked about on national radio shows (heard it this a.m. twice), and got good PR last night on ESPN. Only wish we could do the same. By the way, the running back from Reagan HS down here who ran for 7 TDs in one 5A playoff game last year and had 4 TDs in just a little over a half of playing time last night as his team beat MacArthur is signed to go where ? You guessed it -- Tulsa. Glad he's not good enough to even get a look from us.
Yep. Think we would at least show some interest if for no other reason to get SMU's name out there.
My assistant's husband is a teacher/coach at Reagan and according to him, to no real surprise, no contact from SMU about this kid. Same story -- word down here from the Smithson Valley, Judson, Madison, etc. people is that SMU focuses primarily on the DFW/East Texas kids. Again, that's fine if those recruits are able to actually make plays for us. By from what I have seen we really need a much wider net of potential players.

He's unfamiliar with both the Pistol formation and the swinging gate. He would be of no use to us.
I HATE hearing that, we couldn't even send a letter to him? Dallas Mavericks - 2011 NBA CHAMPIONS!
Long live the Circle of Champions!
In my opinion, Tulsa has done an incredible job with their football program over the last few years. I remember not too long ago when Tulsa was a game every year we could circle as a win. Tulsa got sick and tire of being mediocre and hired a great coach and altered their admission policies. They became a great team in only a few seasons and have had success with winning seasons and bowl games. Tulsa became so good in that they lost their coach to a better offer (wouldn't that be nice SMU fans). Tulsa went out and paid good money (they didn't get cheap like SMU does) and got a proven asst. and head coach that has experienced winning seaons in Div. 1-A. Tulsa is letting their coaches get transfers from other Div. 1-A schools by accepting credit hours. The transfers help Tulsa from having to play too many freshman and redshirt freshman. SMU, look at Tulsa and tell me again why can't you put a winner on the football field? It has only been 20 plus years?
If he's faster than Aldrick Robinson, he should be training with USA Track. I went to a couple of early practices, and I can't remember a player with as much pure speed as Robinson. He looks faster than Jessie Henderson, Kevin Garrett, Trey Griffin, Johnnie Freeman and any other fliers we've had in the last 20 years or so.

For some reason we want to only recruit in a 300 mile radius from the school, or some such. Don't understand that at all. National program = national recruiting. Small time program = small time recruiting.
Yeah? Maybe that's his problem. He exhibits a steel trap for a brain on way too many occasions. ![]() "Moderation in all things, and especially in Absoluts [vodka]." The Benediction, Doc Breeden, circa 1992
