Special Teams Coach

Postby docabel » Sat Sep 22, 2007 11:11 pm

I realize that our coaching staff is the envy of most every other college in Division I. How many of these other elite programs have no speical teams coach? It's not like we are a 2A Panhandle team where our coaches also have to teach Health or Spanish (althought they might be next year), I would like to think we could afford another assistant. But in all honesty, does anyone know of any other team D1, D2, or even Texas 5A that doesn't have a special teams coach?

It's cost us several games over the years. I can think of numerous SMU games that were turned the other way due to blocked punts and field goals. It's been a weakness for a long time.

Bennet also made the decision to not put Hudamn in on that punt, becasue of sore ribs... his replacement is where the block came from....

What do you think Willis is going to think when he hears his coach left out a cirtical blocker on a punt becasue his ribs were sore?

And the blocked punt that cost us dearly at NTSU last year. How long has it been where we have had a season where we didn't get a punt blocked? Has PB had a season without one? Most teams go years without giving up a blocked punt. It makes me sick.

He was too busy laying next to Coach Bennett's feet.
