Bush Library CoverageModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Today's DMN says Baylor officials still hope the W bookmobile ends up in Waco. They can't be that dillusional down there, can they?
Rise up, Mustang Nation!
Go SMU!
Someone needs to lock the liquor cabinet in Waco.
Some Methodists opposed to locating the George W. Bush library and an affiliated policy institute on the Southern Methodist University campus said Monday they will seek to overturn a church decision that approved the move.
The push is likely to fuel even further an argument that has roiled church members since it became increasingly likely that the library would locate to SMU. “It’s not a matter of censorship, but there’s a lot of resentment that this institute will be run without any oversight by the university,â€
Unfortunately the Methodist denomination is a joke these days. I often wonder if they still use the Holy Bible?
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
As a member of the largest Methodist congregation in the United States, I can assure you that we do. What do you consider a joke?
Apparently anyone who questions the Dubya presidency and the wisdom of bringing his "policy institute" to SMU. Since he's the worst president in my lifetime (and that is saying something) and I consider his foreign policy failed and not worthy of an "institute" you can count me among the jokes.
I find that, often people who make such broad statements like the above, usually haven't bothered to take the time and seriously consider what they are saying. It helps to think before you speak. The donkey's name is Kiki.
On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney? Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.
I think there are many who feel that the UMC have become more socially aware to the detriment of Wesleyian doctrine. For example, their current ad campaign, "open minds, open doors, open hearts", focuses on people and not on Christ. Christian Churches need to always point to Christ.
Christ had the most open mind, open door policy and open heart towards ALL people than anyone in history. Focusing on people, as He did, is what Christ would want His followers to do, don't you think?
This is where we ignore stupid comments about religion from people who obviously are trolling.
Bush Library. Sir, shooting-star, sir.
Frosh 2005 (TEN YEARS AGO!?!) The original Heavy Metal.
The Methodist church has always been at the forefront of politics and issues (slavery, women's rights, civil rights, etc.). Many times it has caused the Methodist church to split. While the Bush Library and how people feel about the war are important, Methodists have bigger issues to deal with at General Conference (actually in FW) this next year.
"He was quoting the Bible, Revelations. 'Behold the pale horse.' The man who 'sat on him was Death... and Hell followed with him.'"
"You tell 'em I'm coming... and hell's coming with me!"
from the DMN:
Roughly 3 acres of University Park parkland, streets and alleys near a potential site for the Bush presidential library could cost Southern Methodist University $8.9 million. That's the total value of the land, including a $6.4 million appraisal released this week on 1.95 acres of University Park streets and alleys near Potomac Park. The three-quarter acre park was previously appraised at $2.45 million. The latest appraisal was for Potomac Avenue east of Airline Road, Dublin Street between Mockingbird Lane and Cathedral Way, and an alley just north of Potomac. The city will survey the land to get exact dimensions of the property – and, therefore, a price – before the City Council decides whether to sell the land to the university. City Manager Bob Livingston said it could be several weeks or months before a sale would be executed. In May, voters approved a ballot measure allowing the city to sell the park property. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent ... c578e.html
