Mario and Luigi

Postby BRStang » Sun Sep 30, 2007 8:17 am

The mindset for me has changed this season after the Rice debacle last year. I don't expect anything, and I don't get upset after watching a loss like that. Last year, I would've shouted at the TV, cursed and thrown the remote in disgust after seeing that display. Yesterday evening, all I felt was indifference, and I chuckled a little bit watching Mario and the more rotund Luigi walk off the field.

What does Luigi do anyway? Special teams?

It's a much more enjoyable way to watch the little mustangs, isn't it?

I don't know if I'd call watching the games enjoyable. I now watch (and attend when I can) to fulfill a sort of curiosity, I suppose.

I was trying to figure out why Luigi was laughing and farting around at the far end of the sideline just prior to UTEP's 2nd snap of overtime. Maybe he felt SMU's D had the game in the bag?

so many people have adopted guru jtstang's edict of No expectations that now only about 8% of SMU even bother to cheer for their team at key moments in the game such as on 3rd down, in the waning momments, in overtime etc. Perhaps we could get jtstang to proclaim that a fan may cheer in support of a team in Overtime w/o expecting them to succeed. Seriously w/o question SMU fans are so beaten down we realize- don't we- that we are The Worst Fans in the History of the World

I never said you should not hope your team does well, which can be expressed in cheering. Hope is to be encouraged, just not expectation.
Seriously w/o question SMU fans are so beaten down we realize- don't we- that we are The Worst Fans in the History of the World
..............Honestly, that is why I prefer going to away games because what fans we have at those games are our best fans. They will cheer......However, this may sound crazy but, I was really impressed yesterday with the 150 SMU students that had the nerve to show up and cheer all day in our student section. I mean as pitiful as our student section looked yesterday, those poeple were actually cheering all the time.
