Stallion wrote:I have documented in literrally hundreds of posts over the last 10 years how our natural and traditional CONFERENCE rivals have used Division 1A Transfers-generally 3 Stars and up to beat SMU out for championships and bowls. These posts have included posts about TCU, Tulsa, UH, UTEP, Southern Miss, East Carolina, Fresno St., Hawaii, Boise, BYU, Colorado St., Utah, San Jose St., et al. Now we get to hear a growing group of quite frankly ignorant poster yak about about a topic they have little understanding of and draw conclusions based upon incorrect data. If you don't know what the policies are at our Rival schools I invite you to SHUT UP-because you are clouding the issue with clearly incorrect information. The UTEP was just another in a long line of games where SMU was beat substantially as a result of players on their conference opponent's team who could not be admitted to SMU because SMU in the past has not admitted the transfer hours of BCS Division 1A Transfers. When they have lately allowed a few scrubs and walkons from BCS schools as in the last year or so the players inevitably reported have to make up substantial numbers of hours at other schools because they hours would not transfer.
Ok, Stallion, you're back. Good to see. I'm not disputing you (yet), but can please list for me the SPECIFIC ways that SMU is hamstrung in recruiting as opposed to other schools. We can even use TCU as a comparison. If it is just "high" admissions standards (ACT/SAT/GPA), what do we allow in as opposed to TCU?
NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO ANSWER THIS SPECIFICALLY OR COHERENTLY. Thanks!!!!

It sounds to me like he is saying cirriculum issues are all that are left to deal with, particularly if our majors would require transfers to make up a bunch of hours.

OK, so the only need to level the playing field on recruiting restrictions is with respect to transfers and JUCOs?

Well, I will defer to Stallion on these issues, as my #1 point in the other thread was kind of based on the assumption that he is correct that "the model" is the primary reason we are being out-recruited, but it sounds like that is what he is saying.

I think people here are looking for specifics...
Juco recruiting, what kind of standards does SMU have vs. 'traditional rivals' specifically, what majors are lacking, etc.
I know the transfer hours are still out of whack even for traditional students.

I agree. That does appear to be what he's saying in his post. Anything else, Stallion? (That is, is there anything else specifically, other than transfer hours not being credited in some cases, that you believe we need to change to be in a position to compete fairly in recruiting with other non-BCS schools like TCU?
See, I kinda wonder if the reason we don't get 3 and 4 star recruits across the board is because (1) nobody wants to lose all the time (vicious cycle); and (2) the coach ain't bringing them into the stable.
