Maybe the athletics administration should start instituting "Top 25 program" policies when we're a Top 25 program.

SMU has no leverage to make the unpopular changes it's making this year. When (if?) we win, then you can start moving people around, raising prices, changing Boulevard policies, etc. I think most people would understand that's the price of success. But right now, SMU is just kicking around the few diehards who even bother to come to games anymore.

Good leadership would know how to soften the blow and offer a compromise or some reward for the people who are being inconvenienced. The people who are being inconvenienced now are the only people SMU's got left, and some of them are leaving as a result of all the changes.

You can still buy season tickets for this area, but your actual seat isn't guaranteed. You want to sit in a particular seat? Show up early.

The alternative is to purchase reserved season tickets, at an increased cost of $135 per ticket ($225 vs. $90). Plus, with such a limited number of reserved seats (three sections on each side) who knows where your new seats will be?

The other alternative is to buy a general admission ticket three minutes before tip-off and sit at midcourt.

Seat-hopping is easy to do by yourself or with a bud. Try doing it with some kids in tow. Or trying doing it when you and your wife are elderly couple. These are the kinds of people who have had season tickets in the corners and end zone.

Besides, with only three sections of reserved seating on each side, you don't think the "ushers" are going to be on full alert this season?

One plus is that garage parking is free this year. My ticket girl said the only paid reserved parking was on Binkley.

That doesnt mean garage parking is free........ They still charge you when you pull in to park.

I was told that the garage parking would be free. As I recall, Moody garage is open to the public after 7 pm and on weekends for free all the time. In fact I was told you can park anywhere for a game except on Binkley, which is reserved for the blue seat ticket holders. This probably means Binkley Ave. parking will be mostly empty most games.

I am one of those who sits in the corner (Sec. P) I don't mind paying $225 vs. $90 (it's finally for a good cause) but I still want my seat in the corner (where we have sat for years) guaranteed. Not interested in "sideline" reserved. With all the "high tech" machinery in the ticket office, I'm sure they can spit me out 4 guaranteed seats in Section P. Ya think?

I love this change. Want your seat - show up on time and get to the game. Hopefully Orsini will take away more courtside reserved and go with more general admission - and I have had my courtside reserved seats for 15 years. Also - they should let students buy general admission seats instead of student seats if they want to - so they can overflow into the corners and get some energy into that place before we all die of boredom.

Doh gets some good ball going and you better grab onto your seats and hang on cause that place will fill up.

Energy? Student overflow????...Have you seen the schedule?

The new policy stinks. There's no good reason for it. At least give people who have been loyal season ticket holders an option better than a $135 price hike per ticket. I don't see any reason why the corners can't still be reserved. That leaves plenty of open space for general admission that they can sell to groups, which I'm told is the reason for the change.

My family has had season tickets in Moody for years. We've been loyal even in the leanest of years. We've found a perfect spot that has easy access for the older folks in our group yet has room for our little ones to play - plus it's located conveniently for trips to the restroom, which benefit young and old. We've gotten to know the people who've sat near us for years and look forward to chatting with them every game.

And now any stiff with a general admission ticket can wander into Moody, plop down in "our" seats and leave at halftime once they get bored.

Meanwhile, every game we get to worry about whether we're going to get there early enough to claim our seats. And if we don't, it means climbing stairs, climbing over people and probably not seeing the friends we've made over the years. I know, it's not a huge hassle, but it's still a hassle. Why is SMU hassling the few people who have been loyal to the basketball program? With this schedule and this young of a team, Moody could be a real ghost town some nights this season. No matter how bad the team got in the past, we knew attending an SMU game would be a pleasant experience because of our seat location. Now, even that's been taken away. It just doesn't make sense.

I will gladly overflow into the general admission and bring you guys some energy. How many friends should I bring with me?

quit whining! there's no reason to have the baseline and corners reserved. no one ever goes to the games, so why should you worry about not getting your old seats? if you expect no one will go this year, then you shouldn't have a problem. all everyone does is complain. this is the situation, so just deal with it. if you don't like it, then don't buy season tickets and don't go to the game. it's as simple as that. and when the athletic department really starts to lose money, let them deal with it.
